Is this Kyosho engine A Geniune One or Fake

Hi Johnni...think you could post a picture of the engine mount in your car? That would really help out a lot. But I am with you that is could be a knock off.

Ok I found a picture of the engine mount and Kyosho played dirty on this one...they really made it to where you HAVE to use thier crappy engines unless you find a aftermarket mount. They DO sell a mount plate with four holes for a regular engine mount but the sucker is like $50....without the actual engine mount. WTF is up with that Kyosho?

Well, if it's a knock off, it's a well done knock off...

Amain has photo's of it that are really good:

The one on amain has a steel shielded bearing vs a rubber sealed bearing like the ebay one. Other than that, it looks the same to me. I'd go for the rubber seal anyway... :) Less likely to leak.

That is one proprietary little engine! I almost want to buy one just to see what's going on in that starter housing!

So should i go for the ebay one as if it is a knock off, would it still be as powerful as compared to the real thing or theres a slight difference

somehow he got his hands on 999 of them.. kinda fishy.. but ya never know i guess.. i might pick this up for my hpi super nitro.. :)

now I'm thinking whether to buy it or not but not sure as i dont want it to break down or anything if its a cheapy

Oh Olds those starters are a PITA!!!! I had a buddy with the same type on his .28 in his Kyosho truggy and it was a monster. Well lets say it was a great idea but just did not work in practice. It looks a lot like a lawn mower pull start on the inside. Yeah I am thinking if it is a knock off....look a LOT like the real one Olds posted. Not a bad price I might risk it.

to me its just like the p90x video sets that came from china that looked 100% authentic.. but china doesn't have the same laws about copyright infringement. so it may look the part but not be the part..
i would also message the people who've bought them and see how they worked out for them as matt suggested.

i tryed to find the buyers but no luck as they bought then over a year ago and ebay dont go back that far so now I'm not sure what to do.

I was not able to open that one but all the ones that I am finding that are real are all metal shielded bearings. All the ones from HK are rubber shielded. It makes me angry that Kyosho would make a car so proprietary that you can only use their crap ass engines. I found another one stateside..I would be half a mind to buy the upgrade plate just so i could tell them to shove their mill up the ol keister.
Koyosho Engine

Johnni I am pretty sure that one is the real deal. Now, how much is shipping to you though? If it was still 4.50 quid that would be nice.

i also emailed other buyers of the gxr.18 engine from the other link in china, they said its going real well for them so far so it might be a good motor
