Hey, I do not know if this problem belongs here or 1/18 talk, so mods feel free to move if nessesary. I just figured, it could happen to any 2wd stadium truck.

Anyway, I was recently upgrading my plastic pinion gear to a metal pinion on my Mini-T. I then found out that the pinion fits out to far, and is not equl with the spur. Also, the set screw it sticking out a bit, so even if it would still work, the set screw hits the spur. Take a look:

any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot.

One thing you could do is put a spacer between your motor and motor mount. That should do the trick. I'm no electric pro, but thats what I would do.

yea, I was just gonna say if there was some type of spacer I could install.... It seems like it would do the trick.

Turn the pinion gear around. There should be enough shaft to turn the set screw down on. Then the mesh will line up and the set screw won't be an issue.

I'm with MR. blue on this one.. i wouldnt spacer the motor that may cause a weak spot.. just take the little gear off and flip it..

ok, heres the deal.

I took some of the old shock spacers (little white, washer type things) and I placed 2 of them between each motor hole and motor plate. I ran the car, and everything seems fine.

I will try candyman and beasons idea if this way fails me soon.

Thanks everyone for helping so quickly.

Boy... good thing you guys replied... I would have dremeled the base of the pinion down some, but just flipping it (if the shaft is long enough) would be the right way to go.

Having spacers against the can and the motor mount may cause undo flex and chew up your spur gear. You might want to try taking the spacers out and try flipping the gear anyway.

what is undo flex?

hes saying putting spacers between the motor & mount could cause unnessessery flex or movement of the motor

ooo, i see. Well, maybe tomorrow I will just try reversing the pinion and see if it works, but I dont think the shaft is long enough.

if you need some pinion gears, send me your address and i'll send you all I have. I dont run electrics anymore.

they're all yours if you want 'em.
