I'd say cj7 then. Gives you a backup rig and something different. Or get something about little more crawler like as this is a trail truck type setup.

Having this Ecto- there is no shortage of upgrade parts. And replacement parts too. I imagine the SCX10 & Traxxas are same.

I'm just learning about crawlers so I'm curious to see what ppl say and why.
I'm curious... some listed as crawler, some as trail truck.
Is this a gear ratio/speed thing or are trail rigs really built differently?

cj7 purely for the body and aftermarket part support. Vanquish would be second I don't have the one listed but I can say the VS4-10 is a pretty good crawler.

Well, without knowing what you're looking to get out of the platform / do on the trail, I'll go reverse order..

4. Vanquish. Easily the best quality / layout / design of all the options listed. It will drive fantastic out of the box and require almost no upgrades. It's a trail buggy, so it will do just about everything well. If you want to tinker and upgrade, this isn't the one. This is on our short list, just waiting for the kit version to surface.

3. Traxxas HT. Eh, it's a Brodozer with terrible balance and geometry. Tons of upgrades, robust design. Almost useless on any technical or steep terrain, but great for backyard fun, trailing, or just mashing through muck and debris. #majin.

2. Axial Jeep. Looks sharp, many upgrades, but you'll end up replacing 80% of the truck as you chase its potential. If you want to experiment with upgrading while maintaining a scale look, this is the one. Just be ready to have the ability to bankrupt yourself on bits and pieces. Self control is key here. We looked this one over and mapped out a slick looking upgrade package, but at the end we were approaching $1500 and it just didn't make any sense. It would be great fun to drive, but not $1500 fun.

1. Element Ecto. Fantastic out of the box, many upgrades, and can easily be tuned into a highly competent crawler as well as a fun trail rig. Scratch n' Sniff body is a plus.
