Since you have the room, why not make a layer of plexi glass and mount your keyboard on that? That way you have nothing touching the Motherboard.. You can mount a nifty fan somehow to vent the heat out of enclosed area.

Yout idea makes me want to try something butI can hear my wife thinking..."you do have a laptop right?"

It does need some touching up here and there, but for the most part, it's done.

I want to make some kind of inlay, however, I don't see how I have everything layed out now ( not pictured ) would hurt anything.

The keyboard sits pretty snug against the power supply, and the Mouse isn't going that far. Also, you cannot see, but the monitor has an 1/8th inch of lexan covering it for added protection.

The only thing I can see as being a problem is that I don't want some kid at a job site sticking his/her hand in there and electrocuting himself.

I need to make a warning sticker for that thing before I take it out on any job sites. Just to cover my ass against stupid people.

Have you added a LAN port? if so, have you made a crossover cable?

I would recommend some sort of inlay, just so it'll protect the mobo. It doesn't take much to break a capacitor off the board, and render it useless. That mouse rattlin around would be just the ticket, too.

thats pretty cool man...

i would imagine security would give you a hard time trying to take that through airport security.

kudos to you..nice job!!

Specs are:
AMD Athlon 1200 MHz
Maxtor 20GB Hard Drive
256MB RAM
Windows XP Home
Sony 15" TFT LCD Monitor
200W Power supply
Proprietary Wiring
lol, I think I'd die running a computer with those specs. But then again, it is a portable testing machine...

BTW, may I ask exactly what you do for clients? My friend and I were interested in setting up our own little jig, but I figured we'd need quite a bit of hardware in order to be able to test most systems out there. If we could get by using a system like that, I may want to try start again...
