Hey, ease up on the noob guys, he's trying to learn. Platgof, you don't consider LiPo cells like you nimh cells. To replace a standard 6 cell nimh, you would go with something like a 2S LiPo. A 2S LiPo is 7.4 volts. The Revo is a 1/10 scale monster truck. I expect to see 1/8 scale electric from the manufacturers soon, but currently there is nothing available, so you have to get a 1/8 scale nitro buggy or truggy and then do a brushless conversion with a high voltage system like the one I'm using on my Revo. I'm running a Novak HV Pro (brand new replacement for the old HV Max system) 4.5 brushless system with two 6000HV 2S LiPo batteries, and I will be ordering two 8000 2S LiPo packs in a few weeks.
So far this is what I've spent:
Novak HV Pro 4.5 system with shipping $300
Maxamps 6000HV 2S LiPo batteries w/ hardcover $230 shipped
Tekno RC brushless conversion kit $150
plus the cost of the brand new Revo, which I got on a good deal but would normally be $500.
I've also got about $300 in chassis and suspension parts and $300 left worth of stuff to order, plus $300 worth of electronics. This will be my most in depth build yet, and the first purpose built race truck that I've done.
As you can see, just because it's electric doesn't mean it's cheap. Now you've got a parts list to go by, and you can start doing research. You can probably get a nice buggy or truggy rolling classis for aroun $200 used, and then you would only have to buy the powerplant and electronics.
Also, instead of deciding to go with 1/8 scale, you could go with a nice 1/10 stadium truck. I bought an RC10T4 for around $300 brand new, then put a $130 sidewinder brushless system in it, and a $110 LiPo, and I've got a sweet lil track truck to play around with that was built very inexpensive. You could buy a rustler roller for $80, then spend $200 on the brushless system and battery, and you would have a badass truck for under $300.
