Brutal but 100% what we need! More honesty, less butt kissing and truthful feedback to manufacturers should result in better quality RCs.Good stuff!
A big part of why I like kyosho as much as I do. They made the first real rc I ever had. They did a good enough job with the raider kit I had an unbelievable amount of fun building and driving it. I don't really have any strong memories of having to constantly fix things or wait for parts. It was a good enough product to keep my interest and cement my time in the hobby as something I would still enjoy now. It was brushed, 2wd, had a mechanical swiper speed control and they built a car where none of that mattered, it was still a blast every time. No one will say that about this truck.Brutal but 100% what we need! More honesty, less butt kissing and truthful feedback to manufacturers should result in better quality RCs.
Honest reviews will stop lots of unsuspecting buyers from purchases like these.
I feel like when ppl buy something like this with high hopes of building their dream RC and find its not gonna work out, they feel burned by the whole hobby, not just 1 product.
Its tough to convince someone that they should risk another pile of cash on another roll of the dice after a purchse with results like this.
There prob are a bunch of ppl who had better luck but this reviewer seems pretty unimpressed.![]()
I agree. Even the Tamiya kits that I bought, likely assembled incorrectly, poorly, they all worked, ran great, gave me hours of fun that turned into a lifelong hobby.A big part of why I like kyosho as much as I do. This is a 1/16 scale truck. Brand name high quality crawler platforms 18/24 from redcat and Axial are in the 100-200 range. Also would have way better resale value down the line.I have yet to consider WPL as a viable option. I see them as toy grade and nothing more. I've seen lots of positive comments on a lot of their stuff and I think those positive comments come from people with reasonable expectations. When you consider the average cost of a hobby grade crawler ($3-500) and compare it to the cost of the WPL crawler...well, what do you expect? Not bashing them really, just being realistic.
I assure you I am not bashing a company based on 1 review I saw.$50 rig from a company that probably sells hundreds of thousands of these. I've seen plenty of positive reviews. When there is less than .05% defect rate, there's no reason to change. Also their customer service is very good and if you have an issue they will try and fix it. Bashing a high end toy grade RC company for one review you saw is comical.
I have two wpl rigs and have had a lot of enjoyment building them and don't have one complaint about them. I even got one of their kits that arrived with a broken body and they had no issue sending a replacement.
It's easier and cheaper to mass produce the 1/16 scale over most others. They've found the toy grade sweet spot, not to small for the kids it's designed for, and not so big to become cumbersome to mass produce and ship around the world. You have to look at the average consumer too, childrenThis is a 1/16 scale truck. Brand name high quality crawler platforms 18/24 from redcat and Axial are in the 100-200 range. Exactly what did you expect for the price? Did you ever try to get a replacement? If you read enough reviews you should have known what you were getting. For the price the body is fantastic and has a decent base that's easy to build up from which isn't normal with toy grade rigs. It will never be a comp crawler but it can be fun to build up from the toy grade onto almost hobby grade. In stock form with all plastic parts they aren't designed to last that long. That's why they sell kits with metal parts if you're looking for something closer to hobby grade. Just know, none of their stuff is "hobby" grade but it's still fun to a point. I got my kits because they were cheap and I wanted to see if this hobby would kick off an obsession and it did. Now I have a small fleet of hobby grade and will never buy another wpl but it's not because I wasn't happy with the experience.I assure you I am not bashing a company based on 1 review I saw.
For authentication purposes I'm just gonna leave this herehttps://www.rctalk.com/forum/threads/can-you-make-a-wpl-c24-a-comprock-crawler.148059/
Wait for it.....loud enough for the boys in the back. THIS IS MY RIG!
As stated before, if you had a good experience I am happy for you. You and I have something in common now....I will also not buy anotherExactly what did you expect for the price? I can't tell you how many half-completed WPL based projects show up on eBay from time to time. In fact I've even been gifted a few!Brutal but 100% what we need! More honesty, less butt kissing and truthful feedback to manufacturers should result in better quality RCs.

In fairness, I need to ask, does the kit say that its toy grade anywhere?I can't tell you how many half-completed WPL based projects show up on eBay from time to time. In fact I've even been gifted a few!
Even when you buy a legit hobby grade rc some of us have a problem....I own 2 scx24s, an excellent truck to start with. Between take offs for upgrades though....I am 1 of those roll cage / frame rail kits away from being able to build a 3rd 1. It's a third truck made of stock parts that will still have more value than some other things brand new.In fairness, I need to ask, does the kit say that its toy grade anywhere?
If they are being honest, I can't knock them too hard.
I just hate for ppl to be expecting to have fun, jump in to our little gang and try and work within a budget only to find that saving $ for another 2 months to buy a different kit was 1000% the right way to go.
It hurts more when there is less $ to throw at a replacement.
The official website doesn't mention anything about being toy-grades, but that WPLs are a "great way to enroll a kid into the hobby".In fairness, I need to ask, does the kit say that its toy grade anywhere?

NoThe official website .... WPLs are a "great way to enroll a kid into the hobby".
Agreed, a kid needs something robust.
