I'm not new to rc but new to nitro. i have a few crawlers and a few drifters all electric. now i want a nitro truck and I'm not to sure what to get. i know i should get something that the lhs caries parts for but whats brand or spesific truck should i keep an i out for? thanks for the help. i also have around 300 to spend.

At a mere 300 to spend, your options are limited, unless you go the used route.

With that in mind, either the Traxxas Revo, HPI Savage X, the Associated MGT, or the Losi LST2 would be the way to go. I would call around your local hobby shops and see which brands they carry, and if they have a dealership connection with either Horizon or Great Planes (they may or may not tell you). Depending on which they have will limit your choices.

Losi is a Horizon-only brand, while the other three are carried by pretty much both distributers. You have to keep this in mind when looking for parts. Try to steer clear of Duratrax, as their engines and plastic are not near as tough as the other brands.

Otherwise, eBay can be a great source of parts at a cheaper price, if you don't mind waiting for the delivery.

I'm guessing you want an MT? Do you plan on racing, bashing or both?

With a $300.00 budget you don't have many choices for anew one. You can pick up a Losi Aftershock (big block) for $320.00 shipped from A main hobbies or Killer hobbies, you have to create an account and log in to see that price. After that you go up to $400.00 plus for a new MT. The most popular MT's are

Savage...big block
Revo....small block but just as fast
LST2....big block
MGT.....big block

IMO you can't beat the power of a Big Block!

I'm with SMaxxin on that one. BB's are the way to go for a general basher.

If you do go with an aftershock, it's a stable a decent starting point. A few hundred later and it's tough as nails. Mine didn't stay stock long. I upgraded the arms to RPM and upper turnbuckles to lunsford. The rest was misc stuff here and there.

Don't forget the support equipment you are going to need as well.

Glow Plug Igniter
Fuel
Fuel Bottle
Temp Guage (not a must, but definately highly recommended)
Fail Safe (also not a must, but definately highly recommended)
Batteries for radio
Batteries for car, or a receiver pack

You can easily spend another hundred just on the support equipment.

I am for the Savage line. If you plan on bashing you can beat one forever before it breaks. If you are going to race. Go with a Revo.....but a Savage in brute strength will crush a Revo or T-Maxx. It is just the way they are built. Both are still good rides just not as tough.

If you can find a new Tnx 3.0 I would
take it over all the others listed here.It
truly is an awsome truck, durable and very
fast.If you could afford the 5.2 Tnx then
you would be in like flynn and the others
would see nothing but the ass of your truck.

it depends on wat u want like if u want a car get an hpi car if u want a truck get a traxxas tmaxx or more reccommended revo the thing is fast and climbs everything like u wouldn't believe

Everybody likes what they like but the 5.2
Tnx is supposed to eat Revo's for lunch. That
is on the track.Don't know about bashing?
The Revo is also a great truck .It's all in
what brand you like and have confidence
in.Good luck!
