lookin' for suggestions for a better radio transmitter. FM sounds like it has a better signal and there are more channel choices. i've heard about some transmitters that are tunable - you can change the channel! that would be nice b/c i want to race. End Point Adjustments (EPA) are also key. Plus all the other ususal features d/r, trim, etc. Lap timers and such are cool but not a must. Not worried about price at this point but obviously if i can get all these features w/o spending a lot that would be cool.

any suggestions?
TIA :jet:

I have a JR XS3 and I love it. It is 75Mhz FM and its synth. No more crystals. :) I found mine NIB on ebay for $180ish.

I agree with Mcvickj, the JR XS3 is a very nice synth radio, it has all the features you mentioned. But he got a much better deal than me, I paid around $240 for mine.

another question

Thanks for your posts, they were helpful. I think that radio is what i'm looking for.

Can that radio be used with a different receiver if i set it to the same channel?

A general question: Are servos more or less substitutable? for example if i wanted to use a different brand.

The XS3 is a great radio! I have one and love it!!

I used my XS3 with a R135 receiver (its a JR receiver but takes a crystal) so I know that other 75mhz JR receivers can be used as long as you tune to the same channel. I am pretty sure the receivers from Novak can be used too.

Servos are interchangable. If you get the XS3 just make sure the servo has the universal connector on it. Futaba has their own connector which does not fit in JR stuff (without modification with a hobby knife). I run most Hitec servos in my stuff.. as long as you get the universal connector on them they work great!

I just picked up this radio NIB at LHS for $200 even and no tax. I loved it. I still have yet to plug it in and use it but will be getting to it this weekend I'll give you an update.
