Oh my what have I done to my friend šŸ˜ šŸ¤£ šŸ¤£ šŸ¤£

He came over my house today for an hour after school. We had fun. He has a few of the cheaper target brand new bright cars. Let him drove the rustler on just 50 percent throttle in the backyard with the ramp and we had fun.

Now I'll send him a link to the Traxxas site and see what he likes. Hopefully he can maybe get some money for the cars he has now and get a RC for Christmas. Directed him to the LHS that has tons of cars on display. Hopefully he checks it out soon. And might make him make an account here on RCT šŸ˜ŽšŸ™‚šŸ˜

If y'all have any car suggestions (probably 10th scale offroad) in his price range which he said under 200 bucks, that will be greatly appreciated šŸ‘

Showed him the slash/rustler/bandit/stampede but those are like 230 plus (overpriced Traxxas SMH)
Showed a arrma gorgon which looks best for the price. Also showed the new micro b. Also showed him the losi nascar and he loves Nascar.

Horizon Hobby's having a bunch of huge sales right now. I might point out the Losi JRX2 mini is $100 right now. Also, the Bandit is $200 exact, comes with battery, charger, everything.

He is also might be interested in onroad. Just getting a chassis kit and trying to take is Corvette body off his new bright one. Which is 8th scale so might be a bit hard to do

I think the bandit will be good for him. Will it be good with the ramp and going through thick grass? I was thinking more of a stadium truck or monster truck for him
It's meh with grass. Don't drive through anything mush over an inch.

It's easy to slap on a set of street tires and adjust the shock position and turn the Bandit into a street car.

I'd say Rally or Slash, they can easily be transformed later if he wants.
True. I was thinking of a 2wd since they are cheaper then the 4x4s. Heck I don't even have a 4x4 basher so why would he get something more fancier than me? Lol
Time to pay it forward... give up some of the free stuff!! šŸ¤Ŗ
Possible. Can give him the TT02. Can fix it up, but I don't have a spare Rx/tx, battery, and charger for him. And I don't want to spend more money on that money pit of a car, which if I do it will be a endless money pit for him. Not to mention it won't be the best since the dang thing won't drive straight. šŸ™„šŸ¤£

Oh yea something id like to mention is that he his left handed. Don't think there is any rtr or cheaper radios that can to left hand drive? If not I think it's fine. He used my Futaba 3pv just fine. He just held it the other way. Or maybe if it's possible to bind up a ole stick radio to it, that might be better.

The Gorgon isn't super fast on 2s but it will pull wheelies on a fresh charge.
It handles pretty well for a tall truck.
Its tough and its cheap.
The best part of M-T's for a noob is that they can drive on any surface and they tend to run over things that would "crash" a smaller r/c.
I can't think of many places my Gorgon can't run but there are LOTS of places an onroad can't run at my house.
My Gorgon hasn't broke on me once yet.
Once your friend has some experience maybe they can move on to a more specialized buggy or drift etc???
Make sure whatever your friend gets isn't a money pit or a POS that needs constant fixing on! That will drive a new person right out of the hobby quickly!

Whatever they get... Good luck and welcome to the hobby!!!

My first rc was an HBC 2997a from Amazon
Bro that things a beast and still kicks
Parts aren't easiest to come by
I wish I had started with arrma or one of the other big names
Could saved myself some money
But then again I probably wouldn't have gotten into the hobby without it due to the paywall that comes with those names lol

Have you checked the classifieds on site? Might be a gem there for him?

My 8 year old is right handed and holds the radio like that. Itā€™s not a terrible way to drive really.

Bandits are pretty good. It depends on where you drive it. High grass isn't its strong suit. I made a street bandit VXL and its pretty good. 32 pinion and a 76 tooth spur. easily 70+. Note: If you get the anaconda tires for it, get a few rear pairs! they wear out unusually quick on asphalt! and if you get the VXL, Get a wheelie bar. Mine will pop a wheelie for miles if I wanted it to!! I have ran mine in grass once. it was on a soccer field. medium high grass level. it was ok. Stiffen the shocks up or else it will bottom out in the rear when on street.

I was also thinking of a slash bl2s kit
Yeah, I got it that way. sometimes I feel the need to take it off because its so frustrating to put on the bodies
I run mostly antenna less flysky receivers in mine. I also use Futaba receivers. Ones with antennas I wrap up and tape to the receiver inside of the receiver box. Makes it cleaner and no need to worry about a antenna getting damaged.
