I need help with a sidewinder esc

I have been running an original sidewinder in a Stampede with a vxl motor, it runs great! I wanted to used the esc with a brushed motor, I left the white wire disconnected but I can't get it to work. Do i need to reprogram something on the esc for it to work? I don't have a castle link and wanted an answer to this before I buy one.

Pretty sure you have to set that. Similiar to the Mamba 25. Light sequences.

Yep you have to program it back to brushed or it will just serge and act weird.

Yea it starts to work but the tires just shake like it's going through withdrawals LOL I'll have to read up on it, just the thought of manually programming it is giving me a headache.

I hate watching and counting LED blinks or buzzer. That's why I bought a Castle Link.

i prefer the castle link as well but you are "fighting free". Thats $20 that isn't "needed" since there is a free way to do the same thing. $20 could go to something else. Like a brushless motor to replace his brushed one and eliminate the need for this thread altogether.
