traxxas xl5 esc problems

I have a 2s lipo hooked up, how do i know if lvd is on? here is the car

the green light is on the esc

The esc that you have looks like one of the earlier model of the Xl5 systems. you probably either need to replace it, or find a manual that shows how to place the connections on the receiver. Your connections must be wrong because you said it was driving when trying to steer. Could be either one, or both.
