It's time for a new cordless drill. My Craftsman 9.6v finally bit the dust and the wife wants to get me a new one. Shopping for good tools is a real pain, so I'm asking my RCNT buddies to help me out.

Can any of you reccomend a good drill in the $80 to $130 price range?
Are they using NiMh batts in the packs yet?

Thanks!!

Doesn't Sears back there tools with a lifetime guarentee?

I don't think they warranty the batteries. They are NiCds after all. Besides, the 9.6v drill I have is rather weak anyway. I need to move up to a 12v or 14.4v drill.

I have a 19.2 Craftsmen and LOVE it! It can throw down some SERIOUS punch! 19.2 man-o-man!

Milwaukee and Rigid are also good!

I've got a few DeWalt 18v's, and they're pretty good drills....but overpriced. I use them on a daily basis and am pretty damn hard on em. They can hold up to the abuse. BUT, if I were going to buy a new drill today and I was starting out new (didn't already have all of the batteries), I would go with Rigid. If you need something that is pretty good, but you're not going to be hard on, go with Ryobi. You can get Ryobi cheap....I mean cheap comparitively... and they're a decent product.

Milwalke tools are nice, but they're heavy as crap.

So, in the 80-130 range I'd go for Ryobi.

I'm pretty positive all the packs are NiCd.

Yep, Dewalt is made by Black and Decker. I've owned quite a few cordless Dewalts doing Home Security work in the past. One very cool thing is if you have a Black and Decker service Center in your town/city, if the Dewalt ever breaks down, you can take it into the serv center and they'll fix it free of charge, no questions asked! Me and a buddy both have done this a few times with never any questions asked. Just fixed and returned :)

Not around here.....the tranny in my drill kept slipping, and it cost me $68 to fix.
