I just got blown off by a bum!

One of my retail stores (The one I'm at today) is located in a strip mall that has a Mc Ds. I walked over to get lunch and a bum was eating leftovers out of the trash can. I generally don't give money to beggars but he wasn't begging and was truly hungry.

I got 2 value meals, one for me and one for him. On the way out, I walked over and went to hand him the bag. He (Being extremely polite) said No Thank You, I can't accept a hand out. WTF! I'm thinking to myself, your eating out of a trash can. I told him I didn't understand and he said, again being polite, I appreciate the offer but no thank you. I didn't know what else to do So I set the bag on the trash can and went back to my store. Hes now walking down the road and the bag is still sitting there where I left it.

I can understand pride but come on!

One time my brother,mom and i were getting into our car and a bum came up and said "Please could you spare some money for food I havent eating in 5 days" My mom being kind gave him $3 and a bag if Kettle Chips that were BBQ flavored. he looked at the bag and said no thanks i dont like BBQ. i was like 5 days my ass

It's possible that the guy suffers from the same affliction most of us do when we eat their greasy "food"..... Can't say I blame him on that case.

damn, thats crazy!!! I can't believe he didn't take it... He'd rather dig up food in the garbage then eat a burger... I know Mcdonalds is greasy, but you have to admit, if you were really staving (and/or a bum), you would eat that burger. I think that was even worse because he just made you waste $ for it.

Thats just it, he wasn't begging, asking for food, or any such thing.

He was eating used McDs from trash can. I can assume he didn't have issues with it being fast food. If he starves to death, its not on my behalf.

Yeh - You have to remember that most people who are on the street are there for a reason, and it's usually not "hard luck." Most of them have addiction or psychological difficulties that put them on the fringe.

It would have been interesting to know what he'd have done if you handed hime a fiver though. I've seen many people refuse work and food but a few bucks OH YEAH!

It's funny cause I'm overweight now and people look at me funny when I say I won't eat fast food...I cook my own thank you...I won't even buy pre ground hamburger meat...I want to see it going in th egrinder......I just eat a lot, as much as I did when I was into road cycling....I rode 30+ miles a day and ate like a horse....now it's catching up to me.....but the bum turning down a fresh meal is WAY fiddlesticks'd up......oh well, If you're gonna be dumb you better be tough.....
