I just got a new job!!!!!

The first day went well! I fixed some guys rustler and figured out what was wrong with another guys hacked up MT2. The job seems pretty easy so far! Just take the trucks apart, figure out whats needed to fix them, get the parts from the shelf and put them back together. I do this everyday with my R/C's lol!! The only thing I'm kinda worried about is doing any engine tuning. There are 2 up there that need tuned. Luckily it was raining yesterday and I couldn't do it. I'm not the best at tuning engines though. I feel confident tuning my own but not so with someone elses. I would feel so bad if I wrecked some kids $200 engine!!

You probably have a book there at the your shop about engine tuning and you probably have access to a variety of temp guns. It should come easy once you do a few.

Man, that really sounds sweet.
If you start getting sick of your own RC after working on others all day,
FIND A NEW JOB!!
Don't let working on them ruin the hobby for you.

other than that..

good job!!

better study up on the Ofna carbs. I was reading info on their 4 screw slide carbs the other day and found out that on one carb you don't touch the mid-range screw and on another one you do adjust the MRS and don't mess with the LSN. Did the research after trying to help a kid get his 1/8 buggy tuned at the track on practice night and that thing drove me nuts. Now that I know more about it and what I was doing wrong, I may have better luck this weekend if he shows up.

Anyway, have fun at your new job, I know I would.

BTW, at least when you tune one and they bring it back not running right a few days later and complain about it, :argue: You can blame it in the weather/climate changes from day to day  :hammer:

I'll have to keep an eye on those Ofna carbs then!

I just got done with my first full 8 hour day there and it was fun for the most part. I had to replace some tranny gears in a Genesis whick took some time but I got it done and got to rip it around for a while to "test" it out. I also had to tune up a couple of T-Maxx's which was no problem since I'm used to messing with the 2.5 and I got to help some kid out with his RC10GT. His flywheel was loose and he couldn't figure out why his started box wasn't starting his car.

I'll tell you what some people are just to lazy and shouldn't even own an R/C! This one guy brought his maxx in yesterday because he was leaking fuel. All it was was a bad fuel line but he brought it into the shop to be fixed!!!!

Hey, dont complain, they might read this forum and not come back, then your boss may have a word with you... you know, the words that are spoken in the back room... lol... j/k

its those lazy guys that dont know to change a fuel line that are supporting your new found paycheck. for every knowledgeable hobbiest out there, there are 10 guys who have no clue and just want to pull trigger all day. your job is to keep the 10 guys running, while ordering the parts the 1 guy needs to fix himself.

lol!! I guess it's just suprising that some people don't work on there own vehicles. I couldn't imagine not working on my r/c's. My favorite part of the hobby is actually working on and tweaking them. I haven't driven my Savage in some time but I still grab it up and change something or make something different or better. I guess everyone is just different. I've always enjoyed taking things apart and was yelled at many times for taking things apart when I was younger lmao!!

The Genesis was ok. It's got loads of torque and easily pulled the wheels up. It needed to be tuned a bit more but it was running pretty good. The speed was decent for such a large truck but the stock radio isn't very good. I think with a few minor upgrades and a good radio setup it would be a great truck.

I just picked up Aprils editions of RCCA the other day and there's an article on this exact subject. Basically they said that the "don't touch the MRS" myth is just that... a myth. According to the article you CAN indeed adjust the midrange... the only thing you have to make sure you do is adjust the LSN in the exact OPPOSITE manner as the midrange. for example if you turn your midrange 1 turn counterclockwise then you need to turn your LSN 1 turn clockwise. Those two adjustments need to stay in synch.

Rex - Yeah, it was pretty surprising to me as well. Ever since I started hangin out at my LHS I noticed how many people just bring there stuff in and let the guys figure it out. I watched on of the guys sell a gentleman a TC3 kit except it was assembled, LOL.
