I feel like such a JackAss.
A kid came into my store must have been 14-15 years old and picks up a copy of Splinter Cell. Comes up to the front counter and tells me he has been looking at it through the window for a week now while we have been setting up the store. He was a clean cut kid and said he parents wouldnt let him get it until he earned the money. I told him how good that was and how much more he would enjoy it due to having to work for it. He whips out the ole mans CC and plops it down on the table. I look out the window and hold the card up for the dad to see. The Mom, Dad, and daughter were standing outside the store. The dad gives me the high sign so I run the card and let the kid sign it. Off he goes with a smile and a game. His parents wave as they walk to the car.

About 20 minutes later a couple comes into my store and asks if we just made a sale for 21.50. I said yes and they went on to tell me that the man left his wallet at K-Mart and someone had just racked up over 1K in charges in the last 30 minutes.

WAS I SCAMMED OR WHAT!!!!!!
fiddlesticks>>> What a perfect setup. Thats teaching your kids how to be productive citizens. At least for me it was only 20 something. Hobby Town got hit for 800.00 It had to be an RC.

fiddlesticking PRICK FAMILY.....

Damn I never took a CC without the carholder their. I learned that in retail. Some scammers work in pairs or more. No ID , NO SALE!!!

Sorry Ed.

I hope they catch the family on video and send them all to jail. One more reason why our society is all funked up. And to think the parents condone this type of behavior. Unbelievable!!!

9 times out of 10 I can smell a scam before it walks through the door.
This one got me and got me good. I played right into it. If I didnt have a conversation and tell the kid what a good thing he did working for his money, I wouldnt feel like such a peepee. I'm a peepee I'm a peepee, I got took by a 15 year old. I SUCK :p:

No :(
The store isnt even scheduled to be open till the 15th.
I still have the 2 wireless cameras in the box. I have been in such a crunch trying to get everything up and going the cameras got put on the back burner.

Guess what I'm doing tomorrow?

Lesson #1, even with a thumbs up from someone, NEVER let a kid sign for a sale.
If you had waved his father in, you probably would have sensed his nervousness.

I know, I know!
If nothing its a good reality check. I could care less about the $21.50 I feel like I got my ass kicked trying to help an old lady cross the street. Its all about the pride.

Since this is another learning experience, here's another tip. NEVER help an old lady across the street. As soon as you grab her ass, she'll have you arrested.

pride is the one thing that's hard to buy back.......don't let it get to you too much man....you'll end up goin vigilante on people like that.....Goosfraba......

Father to Son, the way it should be.

Geeze Eddy that just sucks. You try to put faith in humanity . . . then this.

So you rolled 'em in, right, talked to the gendarmes?

(Unrelated random note - wife's opening her new biz too, but on Saturday)

Man, I go to bed and all the excitement starts! Too bad it was not good news, though. Sorry to hear that FE. Too bad you did not have a license plate number of the car, or at least a description. Oh well, the kid will be in prison before he hits 18 anyway.

MAKE SURE YOU GET A CDL # with each CC purchase!!!!!

I'm a bit confused by this...some kid is using a CC that is not his to make a purchase at your store and you have to eat the $21.50??

Ahhh...ignorance is bliss!

siging off from the home of ignorance...
