Hey Guys,

Well last night I finally got the nerve up to present the idea of getting another buggy. It was just me and the soon to be wife sitting around after dinner. She was working on a presentation for work and I was cleaning up after dinner. She was in a good mood so I figured what the heck... I would just throw it out there and see what happens. I told her that I was thinking about getting another buggy. She asked why and I told her that I really enjoyed building the CRT kit and I was anxious to build another one. The deal is though, that I have to wait until after the wedding, and I will have to wait until summer. I also have to raid the Xterm for parts. I can handle that. I will probably want more that the OS RG for a mill, but it might have to do until I can get something better. Besides... getting the buggy is the important part. I can upgrade later. I don't mind the XTerm Pro... it is a great buggy, but I am anxious to get into something with a little more tunablity. Anyway I just thought I would share the news! Now I have to hit the web and the forum to do some research on what buggy to get. Right now the X1 CR is the front runner. I like the new Hyper 8 but I am not spending a grand on just a kit. Anyway I am open to suggestions. Take care guys.

Now that's the sweet life my friend! I am in the process of working with contractors to get the basement finished which is going to include a room dedicated to RC's.... so maybe once that is finished I can just have the UPS guys drop stuff at the back door!.... or better yet... the UPS guy that delivers to work also delivers to the house... so I could always just have him bring it here.... :ponder2:

Of course... I am totally :whip: After all everything stays the same after marriage right?

Tom

you must be smoking the good stuff!

I say get it now before the wedding, or at least get it in writing in your prenup. After the wedding all bets are off as you will soon find out my friend. lol

From what I understand, in order to be married you have to smoke the good stuff! One of the many things I love about her is that she understands that I love messing with RC's and as long as I don't go completely overboard... whatever that is... she is cool with it. The other thing is she knows I work hard and doesn't mind if I spend some green on myself every other weekend. LOL Besides she likes to spend money too, so I hardly ever get any flack for it.

But it all changes after marriage? That would suck arse!

Tom

Just giving you a hard time Tom. Marriage is awesome, life does change but for the better! It can be a challenge at times but that is what makes it so rewarding and fulfilling. Like the saying goes, nothing worth doing in life is easy.

That is the truth my friend. I keep telling myself that everytime I start a new college class each semester. One of these days I am going to finish my degree! I am looking forward to the marriage. It will definitely be one of my best decisions to date.

I still can't believe I can get another kit! Outstanding!

In MY house it usually works out like this:

Me: Hey hon, dont worry, I got the dishes tonight. By the way, I'm thinking of getting another RC.
Her: Thanks Baby. Y'know we really shouldnt be spending right now cause were saving for the wedding.
Me: Ok.
----------
week later... She sees me wrenching on a bunch of black plastic parts all over the dining room table
----------
Her: Whacha working on Baby?
Me: Oh nothing, just working on my RCs
Her: Oh...ok
Me: Hon, what r all those bags? and whats Prada and who is Kate Spade?
Her: Oh nothing...nobody.
Me: Oh...ok.

She trotts off into the bedroom....I go back to wrenching...the bank account dwindles to nothin-ness.

The thing about marriage is you'll start keeping better ties on the cash flow. So when time comes to buy stuff like RC parts/kits, she'll start seeing how much coin actually goes into one. This maynot be a good thing lol Anyways, me and my wife have come to an agreement...I get generous "X" amount each month to spend of my hobbies. It's works pretty good for us.

Congrats on school and Marriage
Ray

You have to work it like I do.
I buy her fun things like purses and shoes and she buys me RC stuff. On the other end, I let he know that the shoes she just got look great (Like a truly care) and ask why she didn’t get a 2nd pair. Not a word is said when new RC stuff appears on the bench.

It’s all about balance. If it were grocery or mortgage money it would be a different story. She also knows staying at home working on RCs is much less expensive then a DUI or a girlfriend.

as far as mutual finances go I've done this....you figure out the monthly bills....do some figuring on how much each of you can put in and have extra...Usually shoot for a 25% "profit margin", in there after the bills are paid...all the bills, food and car insurance too....then what ever you have after making your weekly deposit is yours...she has the same type of arrangement and you have to be fair about it...if you make more then obviously you contribute more....but once that arrangement has been made it's easy...you won't freak out on her clothing shopping sprees and she can't see your titty bar tabs....well mine was/is/always will be toy tabs but I know alolt of guys are pretty hooked on titty clubs.....

hmmmmmm boooooooobies!!!

Yep thats how we've been talking about setting things up Plaid once we get past the wedding. We are both on salary so the deposits will be the same every month except for a small bit we will keep for ourselves to do whatever we damn well please with. My addictions are RC, kewl electro-gadgets and now fixing up my 1:1 car. Hers are bags n shoes and bags n clothes, n bags shoes n ... did I mention Shoes n Bags?

Right now every :2cents: is going into the "Wedding fund" but we tap into it every once in a while.

Tom, its all about give and take man. I'm not "technically" married yet (getting there fast) but weve gone through hell and back again, lived together for 5 years now, had good times and horrible ones, and while it has been ALOT of hard work we are both better for it and are happier than ever before. Congrats on the understanding soon to be wifey and the new buggy purchase!!!

P.S. Might wanna look for a Used Hyper 7 on Fleabay. If you do some digging you might be able to score an older Kanai , Kanai II, or Kanai III. I Love my Kanai II. Might be some Decent Storm Pros out there too. Unless you def want a NEW kit.

get the Jammin buggy...you have a jammin truggy and I'm sure there will be alot of crossover parts.....I'd love to have a race setup like that....less crap to haul to the track....

You guys hit the nail right on the head. Understanding and a clear and up front plan when it comes to money, and where comes and goes. I am like you right now Robriguez... almost everything that we have extra right now is going to the "wedding fund" I am glad we are having a small wedding, but even still it is going to end up costing us somewhere a bit over 10K. Of course that includes the place on the beach for a week, and the two hotels in Charleston and Savannah for the honeymoon. Our goal is to come back with 0 credit card debt. I wish it were that easy Fast Ed.... she makes quite a bit more than I do... so I can't buy her anything she can't already buy herself. It would be nice sometimes if it worked that way though! Svoray, that is kind of how we have it set up too... so much money each month to do whatever with. She has given me free reign on purchases under $500. I usually tell her anyway, but she generally looks at me like..... "why are you asking me?" We do have a clear savings plan as well as a growing portfolio... although I wish it looked better! LOL she is the stock person not me... I am to involved in school right now to have time to study that. One thing I have learned is that it is give and take... if she goes out and spends money on whatever... I don't say anything. As long as the bills get paid, and that money is still getting saved most of my purchases go unchallenged.

Anyway back to the subject.... a new Buggy! I like the point Plaid makes about getting the Ofna buggy and being able to interchange some parts. It would also be nice to be able to have a higher end buggy that may have some scratches on it. Decisions, decisions! LOL

Thanks for all the insight and well wishes guys.

Tom

Holy crap!!! 10K WITH THE HONEYMOON!!!! That is cheap. Maybe I should hire you guys to come plan mine!!! Ever been to NJ? Want to?

(ever notice how we just CANNOT stay on one topic???)

Having already been married and divorced, I am laughing at the irony of it all. Seems marriage costs a shitload on the way IN and the way OUT.

Just remember, your buggy will NEVER ask where the hell you've been all night.

If you can get away with 10K you MAY have a keeper.
I eloped in Vegas and it cost more then that. Well.... if you dont count the hookers.

Dude... He said "wedding" not "divorce party"!

Personally, I'd buy it before. Anything you buy after, she gets half of when you divorce.

We spent under 10K on our wedding... but I'm a realist and she learned quickly that either she spends what I feel is the proper amount for things or lives on her own. Granted, we discuss any purchase over $100 regardless of the fact that I bring home 90% of the income.

I'm of the mind that I don't buy anything I can't pay for in cash, unless it's an actual car or a house (if the time comes). If I can't pay for it in cash or she can't pay for it in cash, we save until we can. We don't even own a credit card...

My last wedding didn't cost very much.
Divorce is what was the bitch! Wake up one day, no furniture, sleeping in the floor, paying for a car you don't drive and about 70K in child support later.

If only I would have got a puppet!

Been with my 'ol lady for 17 yrs now. Lived together for 16 of it. The "M" word scares the hell out of me. We have a good relationship and I guess I should do the deal, but I can't.
