Someday i'd like to get an R6 :)

So I assume that little 50cc has an auto tranny? Can you do a conversion to manual? That's a single cylinder 2 stroke?

That's what my little bro wants(R6). I've driven them on tracks in Texas twice and I was quite impressed. It's NO Suzuki GSX'R on the track but the vast majority of bike owners are only going in straight lines anyway.

Well the way I figure it, it doesn't really matter what bike you get, cuz most people can't ride for poop anyways. So just learn to ride and you'd beat out 95% of all crotch rocket owners.

But I wouldn't buy it to race with, i'd just buy it to hit the local cruise spots and just enjoy life...too bad I won't be getting a motorcycle for a long time

Hey Kwong - I'd say that's a pretty broad overestimate IME but I agree with ya about many riders. I've encountered allot of good riders here in NM and abroad but their's plenty of newbies that get in over their heads with a bike that's to big for their britches...lol. A good day on the track with your rocket will teach your more about it's behavior under various situations then 5 years on the road IME and IMO.

The great thing about Motorcycles in genral (on the road) is that they'll make you VERY conscious of your surroundings and ultimately a MUCH better driver in a car/truck,assuming you live that long. You'll beceome very aware of intersections and assholes that may be running them etc.

My dream bike is a Ducati 999 SS(you might c a 999 S but not the SS). I'm pretty sure that the ambiguously striaght(LOL) pop singer Robbie WIliams from the UK is the only US resident to own one.

Well to me, I think anyone who tries to ride their bike on the street like they're in world superbike is a bad rider. The good riders take it to the track.

And you know, i've NEVER seen someone lay down a bike properly in a turn on the street. I've always seen them kick their leg out or get half way off the bike but not off the way you should be.

But for me, if I DID get a crotch rocket, I probably would take a course in the basics of racing motorcycles just because it'd help my riding ability.

I dunno, i just think bikes are nice for cruising...and picking up chick :)

I think you may have missed my point about riding on a track to improve your street riding skills...maybe not? You'll never really understand how your bike acts/reacts in serious situations on the street the way you will on the track. Their are exceptions of course like incliment weather but a day on the track and some lessons will make a world of difference.

As for picking up chicks. Well I've said it many times before. If you need a nice car or bike to get women....that's pretty sad. I use to pic up hot chicks in my rust orange Volvo...lol. Either way, hot bikes and hot cars tend to make the women wet...lol.

Oh no, I got your point, i'm just saying, I wouldn't buy it to go run around playing biker boyz, i'd just buy it to cruise. But i'd still take a riding course to learn how the bike handles.

I've found that if you autocross a 1:1 car, you're gonna be a better driver, it's the same with motorcycles.

Your really don't know poop kwong so shut up. You make broad stupid statements that show you know nothing about motorcycles. Have you ever even riden a real bike? Get off your bmx and ride a real bike and then come back and tell us how 95% of street bike riders don't know how to ride. You crack me up dumbass.

THERE IS A LOT OF SKILL TO MOTORCYCLE AND MOTOCROSS!!!

I have driven both and it takes some skill

Hey NitroManiac, I'm trying to decide between the Shadow and the VTX myself. What sold you on the Shadow?

Kwong, riding a motorcycle is NOTHING like riding a pedal powered bike except that they both have two wheels. Laying a motorcycle down is the LAST thing any rider ever wants to do regardless of the situation. Most bikes weigh WAY over 500 Lbs. I doubt there are many people on this forum of over 3000 members that could lift a bike back up off the ground after having "layed it down". So imagine all that weight on top of you or at least your leg while GRINDING on the asphalt.

What I DO agree with you on is that all riders should take a road safety course if they are planning on riding a motorcycle on public streets. Even if they have ridden for years there are tips and pointers they may benefit from.

Humbolt, you are absofukinglutely crazy man! Keep up the good work and dont kill yourself. :-)

That bike is far better stock than what they were like the last time I looked. That fork is light years better than the moped junk it used to come with. Now you need to call BBR for a 117cc engine kit and aluminum frame. (sell your house first!)

from what I know the bike has changed a lot since th '01 models and the new 2004 model (CRF 50F) was the XR 50. The CRF 50 has way more in common with a real sized dirtbike. I was cecking the aluminum frames from BBR ooh my are they sexy! I only need like $2500 for the one I want. I plan to keep my 50cc a 50cc (actually a 49cc) do to it being legal in California to take under 50cc's on the street in the bike lane on city streets that are 35mph and under. It is a loophole in the law we will see how long it lasts.

I was out today and managed to get a pic of Humboldt on his 50.

So just because you can go 150-200mph on the street makes you a good rider? It just tells me you're not NOT a good rider. Because anyone who's willing to go that fast on the street, probably doesn't have enough brains to actually ride a bike the way it should be ridden...on the track

You know, i've seen plenty of riders going WAY too fast on the street weaving in and out of traffic cutting it too close...so they're good riders because they can do all that? Don't talk about street racers, cuz they do the same thing. Even people who buy STI's and Corvettes, just cuz they can drive them doesn't mean they can actually drive and have drivers skill.

So i've never ridden a motorcycle before? Ever though how old I am? I'm only 21! If you wanna buy me an R6, then fine...sure i'll get one in the future, but for now i'll stick to my corolla. Why? Because I know motorcycles are a big responsibility and you can get yourself killed.

And there's a big difference between someone who can operate a motorcycle and get around town, and someone who can handle it properly on a track. It's just like streetracers...sure you guys might label me as a "racer" but you know what, i've actually autocrossed and am pretty good at it...and yeah, I haven't raced anyone in over 6 months.

I've seen enough riders on the street go around corners with their female pee pee knee kicked out like they're the superbike champ...but you know what? they're about a foot from the ground. And you know, they really should have their ass completely off the bike and basically have their whole body on the side of the bike? Why? Because it changes the CG of the bike and helps with cornering.

Actually, I think he is showing a picture of you with it wedged in your ass. If it had the wheels on the ground, no one would see it. :D
