Hello,

I have an IRC Vulcan, STOP LAUGHING AT ME! Does anyone know of a real motor that fits easily?

Also, I ran my XTM xcell up to 338 deg. is it toast? I mean is it rebuildable or would buying a new engine be better.

Thanks.

Depends have you tried starting the excellerator. If it starts and runs then there you go lol.

Don't know bout the Vulcan.

On the XTM, how long did it run at that temp? You may not have hurt it yet. Try to start it and run it and compare to how it has performed in the past. If it is harder starting, performs poorly and you can't tune the performance back into it, you probably damaged it. It then becomes a cost comparisson issue on whether to fix or replace the engine.

Thanks, but...

Thanks guys for all of your help.

A Vulcan is a vehicle that should not be sold.

I went and purchased a replacement engine for my xcell, the wonderful guy at my lhs sold me a motor with the SG shaft, I needed the regular shaft. I am new to the nitro engine so I thought the guy took care of me. Anyways, What do I need to do so my clutch assy stays on???

Help!

my advice- don't go back to that model shop and write/ring to complain as it's bad customer service and someone who knows nothing about rc cars shouldn't be behind the till.

whats up with your clutch?

I could read volumes into this statement........ but I won't......the SG shaft is too short and his clutch setup doesn't have enough shaft to sit on and be mounted to the mill....

You could get a pilot shaft (only fix to use that mill I believe) but I wouldn't...bring it back and get the correct engine for your rig......

Whats the diff between an SG shaft and pilot shaft? I thought they were the same... Then there's standard, long and short threaded. Well, and traxxas IPS which is basically just a pilot/SG shaft.

SG Shaft is on the crank already and the Pilot shaft is an adaptor made to fit onto a threaded crank.

Ooooooohhhhhhhh... I didn't realize that. Thanks for clearing it up.

So, the pilot shaft isn't on the engine. It's bought separately. Don't most mfr's of them just call them clutch adapters though?

Isn't traxxas's IPS just a glamorized SG shaft? Or is it something special as well?

Never went to an IPS crank... I like the Standard set up to allow the Pull start or the EZ crap. LOL
