Okay - I thought all the mumbo-jumbo about different bodies having different downforce and handeling characteristics was a bunch of baloney. Aside from maybe one shaped like a wedge compared to one shaped like a refridgerator, I didnt think there was much difference. Oh boy was I wrong. I noticed a fairly large difference in the way my NTC3 handled when i used the S7R body compared to the silvia body - so i decided to go out and get a stratus body, the one that every racer says is the wayto go. Damn what a difference!!! It handles better, and tracks straighter, drifts better! and runs cooler. For all of you out there that thought the same way i did, stop it!!! the stratus/accord bodies do make a difference!

Wow, you came a long way from being a newbie to feeling the difference between bodies. Most novice guys can't tell, but obviously you do and that shows how far you have come.

You mean you didnt intall the wing? there is a huge difference with and without the wing. Drop it on and you wil see.

mjime - I have the wing attached - i was referring to the ability to adjust it so it increases or decreases downforce. I have tried alot of bodies - since i am an amatuer artist, and painting the bodies is alot of fun for me. Bodies I have had since Jan. 1st and the driving styles of each:

Lamborgini Diablo (HPI) - sux! front end curles under car at high speed, causing the car to flip

Lotus Elise (HPI) - Great body. Rounded door panels make it very rigid, low flex, looks great, and makes the car understeer, which is good for beginners

Nissan Silvia (HPI) - Fantastic! Used this one at a race it worked so well. Great downforce, stable at speed - tough to turn at low speed though

Saleen S7R (HPI) - Beatiful body, but TERRIBLE! Worst handleing body yet. Even with my DR turned down to 5% it still spins out when turned. AVoid for anything but show.

Dodge Stratus (proline) - okay - this body, although not very scale, and not very pretty, handles like someone wrapped my tires in flypaper. I will never race with anything else now. Gives just the right amount of oversteer to swing the back end around for 180 degree corners. Not for beginners though, as it is a lil difficult to control.

I also heard from a mag that if you mount the body closer foward it make it handle better, and more backwards, it has more rear traction. But if you get another body, i heard the Alfa Romeo was a good one.

Silent - I really like the looks of the alfa - is it really that good for handleing? Better handleing for low or high speed? Have you tried it before?

Bodies are bodies for stadium trucks :D But with a wing, you can fly ALOT better :) Just kills some steering when at speed.

As for onroad, I'd figure the body would be one of the most important decisions you could make for racing. Figuring the aerodynamics are very important. I'd figure something that gives the right downforce would be perfect. Something like... Hmm... A Porshe with a whale-tale? Newer model of course :)

u know i thought that too, but after trying alot of bodies - i noticed that it is different on RC cars. I mean who would think that dodge stratus body would be so much more aerodynamic than a saleen S7R? It isnt in real life, but in the RC world, it is. weird, huh?

The alfa romeo is good all around. Never owned one but watched this guy with two bodies drive. He had a Porsche, older model, and a Alfa. When he put on the Alfa Lid, It seemed to handle better and hit top speed faster. Just my .02

okay change my last - just got a protoform 2.1 stratus body - its even better than the HPI!!!!! my god that wing on the back, what a difference. BTW - with this body i made it all the way to the A Main last weekend at the race. GO ME!

For a cool looking body on the NRS4 Type 3 the BMW "M" coupe is nice. The flared fenders along with the body contours and coupe rear make it a nice blend between old and modern. I did one and cut out all the clear sections of the checkerd fender decals and left off the hood stuff and it really turned out nice. A simple paint job with spray cans using a very light coat of Metalic Blue follwed by full covering of Metalic Black then Indy Silver to highlight the metalic followed again with the black to make the interior dark. Simple is sometimes a nice way to go.

Sorry but, dont get a BMW. BMW's are very aerodynamic-less. The big problem is their Blockish front end.

Yeah maybe but the M coupe looks cool. Speed isn't always everything. "If you can't win at least look cool". Just having a lttle fun. no offense intended.

thanks larry - but i agree with silent - I've run a regular bmw body before, and without the rear downforce, the backend comes around under power.

Even if you add a huge Rear Spoiler, the car just gets well, sucked onto the road, thus creating too much downforce for the car to reach high speeds. When a racer ran a BMW M3 at a race, he came in at second to last. (he usually gets 3rd,2nd, or even Wins) after that, I tried to stay away from BMW and other flat front bodies.

hey what's the best japanese import body for racing? Is it the accord? I don't really wanna get a domestic body.

So how's the supra body for high speed?

Supra isnt that good, it handles similar to the RX-7, which is OKAY. The accord handles almost exactly like the Stratus. Just get some cool stickers for it.

Maybe this summer i'll get an accord body...I need to do something with the r/c's...i've got a perfectly good ntc3 that I won't run cuz I don't wanna get it dirty

ooooh, I sold my OB4 and i'm gonna get 200 for it...all I need now is the MT for 200 and i'm good to get the savage. Too bad I don't know if it's actually gonna sell, I think at most i'll get whatever it's starting at which is 150.
