Who knows how much debris might be caught up in it???

Did you buy a few more glow plugs too?
They might be useful while you get tuned.
I would buy a few extra of whatever the engine manufacturer recommends.

It's ok it's stopped spitting fuel after a few seconds :)
Next thing i how I'm going to get the engine bolts out from under the chassis. Got one loose but other three are just rounding :(
I forgot to answer... slotting stripped screw heads with a dremel is a good way to extract stripped screws.
If you can grab the heads, use a pair of side cutters (wire cutters) to cut into the metal and spin.
You can drill the centers out of screws and then extract the "stud" left behind.
