The clean up begins.
Other than being dirty it looks good 🙂

Holy shiit… Do NOT run it with that “filter”… Get rid of that thing ASAP. I’d be EXTREMELY nervous if the condition of that motor man.. Get a proper elbow, and foam filter. Hope it’s not ruined… Those things don’t filter shiit… That guy was a moron for putting that on there.. Jesus..

Ok thanks, I think it's just been used indoors, not really a scratch on the underside

You can still suck “dirt” inside (as it’s clearly all over the truck in the photos), even though it’s on the cleaner side compared to most, and has no chassis scratches.. Just saying-I’d be upset about that K&N style “filter”.. Those are engine killers. Hope it’s alright man. 🤘

Don't know yet, just got it then I went away for a couple of days. Getting some fuel tomorrow and waiting for my stock st air filter comes.
Good call replacing the "racing" filter!
I'll be watching for your next update. 👍🏻

Tried to start the car & it's trying, but when I pull the pull cord it's spitting something out on my hand. Is this normal, I'm not sure where it's coming from.

It started but fuel was coming out of the exhaust, is this normal.
I think I've set it to factory

It's ok it's stopped spitting fuel after a few seconds :)
Next thing i how I'm going to get the engine bolts out from under the chassis. Got one loose but other three are just rounding :(

Your nitro should be spitting out an amount of oil in the exhaust.
Its oil thats mixed into the fuel and provides lubricant for the rotating parts, piston and sleeve.
It is seen as "white smoke" in the exhaust.
I would be looking at the exhaust pipe to see if this is where the black came from.
I would also stop at this point.
If the black is coming from ANYWHERE inside the motor, its time for a rebuild!
I would pull the entire motor, exhaust and fuel system.
Tear it down, clean EVERYTHING and inspect for damage.
Once you rebuild, you KNOW what you have and more importantly, you understand how it works.
You can avoid more damage by replacing worn parts BEFORE they blow up and cause more damage!
I would personally tear down the motor anyways... its used and the only thing you know for certain is that it came with a k and n airfilter. We know thats not good too.
You can also clean up around all those spots on the chassis and make the truck look new!

I'm curious, have you watched any videos about tuning your motor?
I could show you in person but trying to explain the differences between good and bad setting without video is prob not going to be helpful.
Yes i know it base setting's, I'm going to tune when I get everything. Waiting on a battery pack.
I don't think you can show me in person as I live in England

I'm on the east coast of US... maybe if I got a good running start... 🤣
Ok. I guess some ppl get convinced that the factory setting is THE setting. Its a baseline.
Just be sure to give it too much fuel at first.
You can always lean it out as you tune.
Better to have lots of smoke (and oil) than not enough)
There are lots of videos that show what it should look like.
I'd also recommend you pick up temp gun and monitor everything until you're confident in your settings.

Just get a cheap plane ticket 🤣🤣
I've got a heat gun coming with my new filter set up :)

I got the ticket but it says its for an R/C plane... 🤣
Nice work with the temp gun!
Get rid of the k&n thing before you start it!
Who knows how much debris might be caught up in it???

Did you buy a few more glow plugs too?
They might be useful while you get tuned.
I would buy a few extra of whatever the engine manufacturer recommends.
