COnsidering how much 50% of the population on this forum loves the Hyper7's, I'm surprised there hasnt been a bigger reaction to the hyper 8. Any of you guys pick on up yet?

a lot of the h8 owners are keeping it down like my self, and waiting on some aftermarket parts, but the truth is that the buggy handles like a dream, well balanced jumping and under rough track conditions, the long susp travel and the new susp geometry makes the buggy very stable. i have the hyper7 and the hyper8 and they are two different animals. the buggy is making a good impression all over the world, and g.degani keeps me updated with buggy setup, the buggy feels super fast off the line due to the weight reduction, and overall balance, you can't beat this PRO Kit for the price.

I have heard great things about this buggy, and that its a contender against the top shelf kits. Everyone says its quite adjustable, and a really good deal for anyone looking for a raceworthy kit.

The only reason I don't own a Hyper 8 can be summed up in two words: Losi 8ight. If it had came out sooner, I would have bought the Hyper, but with 8ight coming out shortly, I am just waiting instead.

because as a noobie to nitro cars i dont want the hasle of having to get a motor and all the other thing's that are needed for a kit.
THEY NEED TO GET OUT A RTR!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Hyper 8 Pro is for seasoned veterans or those looking to be challenged.

As far as I know, there is no Pro or RTR. The car is in pro trim (graphite, CNC, etc), but comes 80% pre-built.

Best of both worlds if you want pro quality but don't like spending hours tapping screws into plastic like me. I don't mind re-building (and have done that several times), but building the first time takes forever.

I owned a Hyper 8 and it was a great buggy, handled awsome, jumped like a dream, and I was very happy with it other than I started to crack and break gas tanks a lot and checked into it and it has been a kronic problem that OFNA is having. I sold it due to I went through three gas tanks in a matter of two weeks! Not good for racing! It also has adjustable camber inserts in the rear hubs which wear out really fast and give you excessive play in the rear wheels.

whatever i am 34 and think i can handle it.

i just want a RTR so i dont have to mess with getting everything seperate.

I am a Master plumber so i think i have the smarts to put one together and thats not the issue.
I dont care if the rtr came apart just sell it all as a package.
instead they make you buy the extra's to make more money.

Gezz Jon, I think he told you a thing or two! I think he is already a seasoned vet, cause he is a master plummer!:hehe:

Are you kidding me, the extra 4 clicks on the mouse, one for a motor, two for servo's and one for a battery pack are too much hassle? :OMG:

I think you may be entering the wrong hobby bud.

First off, chill out. I wasn't trying to put anyone down. I have built enough kits to know that there are some that just require things as patience and determination. Some people that get kits like the Hyper 8 Pro get overwhelemed with some of the build.

Thats great. This isn't a toilet nor a shower. This kit comes with parts that need attention to detail.

That is how they make their money when you buy kits. You upgrade. Ask anyone here on the forum. Upgrading is the fun part of this hoby. Making things better!!

FINAL WARNING Master plummer.... CHILL OUT.

play4therush,
You are more then welcome to post on this forum and share your mind with others.

You will treat others with respect or you won’t be welcome here anymore.

Honestly we don’t care if you are a NASSA engineer or a 5th grade student; you will learn something from everyone. I’m an un-employed Fast-Food worker and sure I can show you a thing or two. Does anyone care? No! It’s about community and sharing knowledge and opinions not about how old you are or how much money you make. If you have issues with this PM me so I can teach you the real meaning of what we are all about with language you are sure to understand.

BTW,
I knew after you 2nd post in this thread you were a plumber, All I could see was your crack. Play nice or don’t play at all. We are a forgiving group so straighten up and keep moving forward.

You have it backwards, kits aren't the way the company makes money. If you buy a kit, you only buy once, because typically they come with all the upgraded parts. Its all the upgrades you go back and buy later that makes them money.

The best example would be the OFNA/Jammin X1-CR vs. the OFNA/Jammin X1-RTR. The RTR actually costs $50.00 LESS than the kit does. There is a good reason though. The RTR comes with a weaker chassis, chassis braces, radio tray, upper plate, shock towers, front chassis stiffener, diff plate, upper and lower blocks, steering knuckles, drive shafts, and I believe shocks too. So they may look the same at a glance, but they aren't even close. To buy all of the upgraded parts to make the Jammin RTR to be as good as the Jammin CR kit, you would spend over $550.00. So basically you would be buying the kit again.

A math lesson grasshopper. Here is a listing of a decent RTR component setup. Even an RTR won't include alot of this, and you will still have to go out and buy it separate. And what they do include will be of cheap enough quality, that it will need replacing in pretty short order.

FM radio/receiver: 80
good steering servo: 70
average throttle servo: 40
6 volt receiver pack: 25
Decent rechargable radio batteries: 20
cheapest engine: 110
pipe: 70
clutch bell: 15
clutch shoes (long life aluminum): 20
clutch springs: 5
tires: 35
shock oil (2 different weights): 10
diff oil (3 different weights): 15
starter box: 70
battery for box: 20
power panel w/ glow clip (or glow ignitor): 30
pid caddy (fuel bottle, tuning screwdriver, etc): 30
pair of glow plugs: 10
gallon of fuel: 25
charger for radio, car, and 12 volt starter box battery: 100
wiring (allowance for making charger connectors match batteries): 10
paint (assuming 5 per can 3 colors): 15
masking tape: 5
allen wrenches: 10
multi wrench (glow plug, wheels, etc): 5
thread lock: 5
super glue (for tires): 5

Thats $855 (plus shipping or tax if bought local) for a true RTR component setup and that doesn't include the price of the car.

For a Hyper TQ (cheapest kit at $210.00) that puts you at $1055.00, for a Hyper 8 ($400.00) that puts you at $1255.00 (although it comes with a pipe, clutch and clutch bell, so subtract $110.00 giving you $1145.00).

You can imagine how much more it would cost, if you got impatient because you didn't want to build your car, bought an RTR, and then still spent the money on top of that to upgrade the car and the running gear to kit quality. You are easily almost doubling your costs by getting an RTR instead of building your own.
