Hyper 8.5 build up ***NEW PICS***

Ok I took the plunge and bought a Hyper 8.5 Chassis on ebay for $30 bucks.

SO now I am adding parts to this box until I have my own kit. I hate the fact that they built it up 80 percent for you....so I will gather parts until I have a full kit and then start the build.

OK in the box so far is

Bearing Kit from Fast Eddy
Fr2 Chassis and diff mount with back brace (need a front)
Shock and diff oils
Paint
Screw Kit
RB Concepts Numbered SEVEN
(I think when I am done I will call it "THE 15.5" )
Jammin JP-4 pipe

On its way are the front and rear diffs, engine mounts, GRP Jolly tires on vented rims.

Next to order are the PCR CNC shock towers and the Jammin Bigbore Shock kits, Front and rear arms, and the Lundsford titanium pins and turnbuckles.

I also have a JConcepts lid in mind as I like their durability (read I can't drive)

Anyway here is a pic,....I will be adding pics as I get parts in any advice is greatly appreciated as I want to put ALL of the hop ups on the first time on this one...

I know Jet I have added it up seventeen ways....and I WILL spend more this way...But I get th parts I want........and I get to build it.

I will say it is not as bad as you might think....especially if you use the chop shop boys on Ebay....You can get some real deals if you are patient. For instance the chassis was $30 plus 3.95 to ship...it retails for over $100.

SO we will see how it turns out....I am excited to just get the project going...this will give me a competitive rig in both Truggy and Buggy next year at the track.

All I need now is a DRIVER...;)

Nice! I wish I had that kind of down time. Can you refer me to some pics of the track up there? I am sure you already posted some.

Ok here is an updated pic of the box.

Added items include:

Ace 1015 digital servos
GRP Jolly pre mounted Tires
Losi Lipo receiver battery pack with regulator
Ofna High down force wing
All of the diffs are in
Ofna 3 shoe clutch blue med springs
13t clutch bell

The manual and parts lists...

The Hyper 15.5 kit is coming together nicely....a few items left to go are :

Shock towers PCR style
Suspension arms
Shocks Jammin 16mm Big Bores
Radio and servo Tray
Brake assemblies

And I am sure some last minute buts I have forgotten.

Hope to work on it next week over the winter break.

Enjoy!

Looks to be a serious screamer! I'll like to see your progress photo's. I've never built a rig from the ground up. Watching other guys do it is almost as fun.

hows the plastic on the ofna buggies compared to kyosho, mugen etc thnaks

Penguins lack a certain amount of manual dexterity. Lacking opposable thumbs is probably one reason why they don't drive well.
Living on ice can't help much, either.

Maybe not, but they can sure drift like no tomorrow!

I will ....Like to document them here for myself as much as for everyone else...

Top of the line! Nice. I can't wait to see it. See if you can get some video.

Oh yea video of it at the track for sure!!

Not sure as I have only built OFNA products to date.......stay tuned.

So how is the project coming? Any new updates with pics yet?

Another question.. Is that motor top of the line? I know they are awsome motors by reading, but if I were to change mine in the 8b, would that one be the best? How much was it? (if you don't mind me asking):)

Yes, I will post an update here in a few minutes. The RB SEVEN is a proven performer. I bought this one for less that $300 and it is numbered....meaning they only built 300 of them period....so it has brag factor ;)

There are many great engines out there for a new one look at OS , RB Concepts , Jammin, Nova Rossi and the like. Cruise over to amainhobbies.com and take a look...they have a great selection.

Ok, I have begun the build up as most of the parts are on deck.

Here we have some pics of the major components just before assembly.

I have chosen the Jammin 16mm big bore shocks for this project...man are they stout. I assembled and filled them last might and I am very impressed with these shocks...we will see how they perform ...but they "feel" pretty good.

I went 30/40 on the oils front to back....may need to adjust later...and I am using the silver springs to start.

I also have chosen the Losi lipo set up for the receiver pack and of course Spektrum Pro gear for the reviver and radio. I am running the ACE DS1015 Coreless Digital Metal gear servos, and I want to give them what they need to perform.

Well, on with the pics.

And last the waiting to be painted lid.I also have a stocker....but I find those lids almost throw aways as they are made form the least amount of Lexan possible..;)

Sweet! Can't wait to see it go!

Looks like your getting top of the line everything on that one. I am jealous.

That a comon air fliter set up? Looks like the one that the RC8 has as well.
