In my early days I did the same. Started like this, went to locking the the rear and removing a driveshaft or rigging it to only spin one. After 3 or 4 sets of tires, I moved onto full throttle launches on dirt covered concrete to see how long she could spun and how long I can hold it.

I will say at the old compound, I got talons to smoke and I burned holes in asphalt.

When one tire still has tread, its usually one tire spinning faster then the other. Sometimes steering one way or the other can increase or decrease wheel speed.
