Yes I know, I bought a pile of.....

I'm new to the RC scene, only bought a second hand truck last week. Had nothing but problems with starting, tuning and now the truck starts with only the front wheels spinning. Not only that, but the wheels are spinning in reverse at high speed!! I use a drill start at the moment until my pull starter arrives.
I understand the procedure of tuning but my real concern is the wheels.
I just tried starting my truck again and now there seems to be a grinding sound.

Can anyone help please?

You could try lowering the idle speed. Check the differentials and dogbones. Mayb the rear dogbone has slipped. My cousin has a tyrannosaurus too and it's been a headache since day 1. make sure you upgrade the front hub.

And about the wheels spinning in reverse, I think it's because of the drill start. Try using it the other way around.

listen to where the sound is coming from on open up where ever its coming from. Drragonx started a thread very similar to this one. If i where you i would get the thing going as good as i can cut my losses and put it on ebay then take w.e you may be able to get for it and put it towards a rc worth your time.

Thanks, sounds like a good idea. I think I might buy the GV Cage.

Thanks for the info. Its definitely not the drill causing the wheels to spin in reverse though because its a one way bearing.

man i would really spend some extra cash and get something that is reliable. In the rc world you get what you pay for. That gv cage looks like its gonna be really hard to find parts for i did a quick search and didnt find a whole lot of parts. If i were you id see what the LHS has in stock and go from there

Yeah I reckon you could be right there, i'll check my LHS.
Anyway I just took out my transmission and checked that the gears wasn't stripped but noticed two screws were loose on the housing. Hopefully that was the problem.

2 swrews wouldnt cause a grinding noise unless it let the tranny open enough for gears to separate

Gears were a bit loose but now I've put it back it seems more like the gear meshing (if that's the right word for it). I reckon 10 days straight trying to get this running using a drill start has maybe dislodged the engine slightly.
