I have installed the nitro racing clutch but now I am confused. To be expected for an old fart my age. It works like a champ. I set the clutch in the pins in the normal position. I see there is two other settings I can use but don't understand what they will do for me. In the center holes it says the clutch will engage at higher RPM's for more bottom end. In the third set it says the clutch will engage at higher RPM's an even more bottom end. There is also a picture of an area that needs to be cut out of the clutch with a hobby knife. I know many of you have installed one of these clutches. Could I get one of you to explain this to me so I can understand what the benefit of each setting will do for me?
Much appreciated.

The hole furthest on the end causes the weight of the shoe to overcome the spring easier, so it engages at a lower RPM. The further the pivot point is away from the end of the shoe the more RPM's it takes to get the shoe to overcome the spring tension. So, further from the end causes it to engage on the clutch at a higher RPM.

If you have an engine that produces more power at the low side of the RPM range, you want your clutch to engage earlier to make use of the power. The opposite for an engine that has a higher usable power RPM.

I believe it's mostly used for 2wd rigs on poor traction surfaces. If it engages lower, it tends to give you a better start off the line since the engine is fighting the weight of the vehicle at a lower RPM, so wheel spin is less likely.

Kind of like dumping the clutch in a 1:1 car when it's at idle or at redline. Less drastic, but similar.

Thanks for the help. Somehow I understood that much better than the instructions. This went on an 18 engine, and in the first holes it lights it up just like I had hoped. Thanks again for the 411.
