I have a set of clutch shoe's I'm putting on my smallblock and i can't figure it out, any tip's or intrusctions?

Fit the spring to the shoes, fit the whole assembly to the flywheel. You can probably do it quicker than I can type it.

yup the longer part of the spring that is curved goes on the outside line the hole up and put it on the flywheel pin make sure that the small hook part of the spring is in the groove on the pilot shaft.

I've been trying to figure it out it's a 2 shoe clutch and I've got the 2 shoes and 2 springs, am i missing anything i can't figure out how to latch them.

do you have the nut holding the flywheel with th groove in it?? you have everthing that i know of and i have had that engine for a year now

IF i knew how to post a pic i would show you, Think i have the nut your talking about
It's chrome shaft with a black nut on the end

did you get installed? id hate to see my 2 mins worth of a sketch go to a waste..

I haven't got it installed yet I'm working on it, ill let you know in 5 min's I'm having difficulties with my stupidity.

I got it installed, that's the good new's the bad new's is it's grinding and won't spin freely any thoughts?

My bad, I was thinking of the HPI Racing Clutch!

Although this is a piccy of a 3-shoe clutch, the spring orientation is the same on a per shoe basis.

Hope it helps

That's it, Tucker. I had to dissasemble someone's clutch last week who didn't connect the springs properly. They just floated free and rubbed the CB, while engaging the clutch all the time, even at idle. He had no instructions, and I had to figure out the logical installation. A bit confusing at first, but I knew that somehow, the springs would need to put pressure on the shoes.
The pic above says it all. You need to put one end of the spring over the oposite side of the center pin, under tension, into the groove. When it's in place, it will now take pressure to pull the shoe out from it's closed position, and it will pull back to a closed position on its' own.
When you have that, it's in right.

Goddamn i spent 20 min's getting frustrated and checking the motor to find out i have them backwards

LMAO!!! I'm so sorry but i have never heard of someone taking this long to install a clutch especially the one on the rs4 its so simple.

I know, laugh it up lol, anyways as soon as i relised how to put it in it was no issue it's the grinding that pissed me off, I'm gonna swap them around real quick.

i had them on the short side, if i cut them down will it hurt them?

Hey thanks all of you guy's for helping me through my slightly braindead time's i fixed the spring that was catching so she spin's free :)

I don't feel bad nor does that suprise me,i set my block down turned around(i set it on a cleared off table) i couldn't find it 2 time's in a row along with my saftey glasses.
