Hey Guys,

The RC room is nearing completition and I am in need of some advice on what I need to get to store the RC's on when they are not being used. I am looking at a shelf, but I was looking for a solution that would allow me to store them without flatspotting the tires. Obviously a shelf would work great, but how to avoid the tire issue is the problem. Any solutions guys? Thanks

Tom

Hillbilly style Baby! Hillbilly style!
Use a chunk of wood under them to hold the wheels off the ground much like the cinderblocks your neighbor uses under his pickup truck thats parked 12 inches to far over on your side yard. :D

Cool. Thanks for the idea Ed. I think I can make that work just fine. I thought about buying some car stands... but when you have to buy 5 or 6 of them it gets kind of expensive. Thanks for the advice!

I've hung mine with those rubber tarp straps, or you could put up pegboard and put in pegs that will catch the arms. a shelf would work but you will need stands for each one.

I like Akro bins. I can store the spares/broken parts that need to be replaced underneath.

Honestly Tom, I use a couple empty soup cans to sit my rigs up on the shelves. I figure it's a bonus gift after slurpping down another can of "Chicken and Stars"!

Thanks for the great ideas guys! The strap idea is cool, but I do not have the pegboard space as of yet.. The acro bins seem pretty cool too. I will have to post some pics of the Basement and RC room. We just finally got the ok to start moving things in! Woo! Hoo! Thanks again guys.

Tom

P.S.

It is nice talking with you guys again.... I have not had alot of time lately with school starting back up again. I work all day and then spend the evenings in class. I hope everyone is doing well.

I use the shelf stripping that you can get at HomerDepot for about $2 a strip, and the 10 inch shelf brackets. Placed about a hands-width-apart, they hold pretty much every R/C I have. Here is a picture of it;

Grab about 4 six foot strips, about a dozen 10inch brackets, and you have enough to make enough holders for the RC/s, both now and future, for under $25.

It comes in natural, so if you wanted to paint it a specific color, get some Krylon and go to town on it.

Now, for the tires, you can't go wrong with pegboard.

Kinda hard to find, but these are tubes from 40" imagesetting films. I took the ends off the tubes, cut the cardboard to about 6", and reassemble. A rubber band with a couple hooks holds the chassis on the stand.

4x6 for me. I like to keep the shocks unloaded as well as the tires. I painted mine black. Use them at the track too as warm up benches.

I have a bunch of small rubbermaid bins that work real well......got em at target 4 for $5.....the wall racks heartbreak showed are good too...I did a rack for a friend but used the "fancy" ones...the are also double hooked so they don't sway side to side and you can get em painted in black or white from home depot (looks a lil classier for your new room)....
