How to get screwed in a race

the only problem i see with driving clean is this. when you go to pass him, he will either hack you there, or on the next turn he will come in hot and use you for a berm. i would use him as the berm for the initial pass and then he wont be close enough on the next corner to do it back. i would rather be able to drive clean, but we all know how "those" drivers are out on the track. as far as your needle settings go, use some whiteout on your needles. once your tuned for the day, put a small dot of whiteout on the needle and the barrel so that you can see if its been moved. i would do the same for the LSN, HSN, and wheel nuts. also keep your body on the car as much as possible, the harder it is to get to stuff, the less likely it will be messed with. after i run a round the first thing i do when back from martialing is fuel up the car, and put the body back on if there is no damage. then it waits on my starterbox for the next round. good luck, and like i said make sure the other regulars, who you are likely friends with, know whats going on. they can keep an eye on him in the pits while your not around, and be aware of his driving on the track, as well as keep tabs on his sons martialing ettiquite.

But then this could happen:

And how are you going to tell the difference?

Unless you're saying to look to see if the "paint" is "broke"

1 the paint would be broken.
2 if it was off 360* in either direction, you would notice it on startup and during warmup.

360* rich it would probibly flood and never start
360* lean it would have no smoke and lean bog immidiately

Not necessarily, on my savage, the difference between 360 degrees isn't noticable untill it's already been started and you've been driving for a few mins...

Just be the better sportsman. Out drive him onthe track. If he hacks you once, keep an eye out for him when you're about to lap him. Then as Corrado said, use him as a rolling barrier. If you're about to pass him and he won't let you pass clean, nudge ... nudge ... nudge and take your line. Most drivers will kinda lose focus and mess up.

sl0eg1n and I do this a lot when we race our touring cars. Sometimes we break, sometimes we don't but we don't mind since it's usually in the qualifiyers that things like this happen. By the time the mains come, they're already weeded out of our mains. During the mains, the only ones who get driver courtesy are the leaders if they are up a couple laps on us. For everyone else, it's open season!

BTW, it's usually the hacks that will take themselves out early in the game because they're unprepared with spare parts. Sl0eg1n and I have a complete parts box to build a full kit or 2 if necessary.

What also helps, if you're in that situation of possible carb tampering, is to back your car up to your pit area (if possible) and keep your equipment in the trunk. We use a taurus stationwagon when racing so it's easier that way as well. If we need something, we just lift the tailgate and get what we need. When marshalling, lock it up. Table is clean (most of the time) and everything is secure.

I agree with driving as gentlemenly as possible, but if you have to play dirty, figure out the dad's freq and have a buddy hide in the parking lot and turn a Tx on and off when he gets near the end of the biggest straight and is still on the throttle. The back wall should take care of him. Even the best FS won't catch the car from screaming into the back wall of the turn at the end of the straight.

It's that or get a buddy to run with you as a ringer and run interference.

I will admit that I have done this with my synthesized radio. It was done intentionally because the guy is a known hack with a very big mouth. I just kept going through the channels till I found it and sent his r/c WOT into the woods. Different situation of course since we weren't racing. Sent him home early and we continued to have fun for the rest of the day.

Buttheads like that have no place in my vicinity. Needless to say, when he left, everyone was happy.

I know what uya feel. Last year at Prospeed, Ithe race was a couple laps in the A-main when this jerfoff kept hacken me until he broke my front right arm and he goes and wins the main. Their was nothing I could do except be pisst and called it the day. "Rubbing is racing" like the Nascar drivers say, so all u can do is hack back until someone gives.

wsw-wyatearp i live up in northern wisconsin. well our next race is in a couple of weeks and i have plans on playing his game but i will be playing it fair and at the end of the year when i am 500 points ahead of him i will be the one laughing and if he wants to play games whith hacking and trying to crash me then i will play back just i will play harder and as it was stated b4 i will go WOT into the side of him and take out hi hi dollar pipe and then he can't race but i can i have enough parts to make 3 new cars so if i break then i fix it fast but he dont carry much but little things and that doesn't include a new pipe. well i would like to keep this post going and i will let all of you know wut happens at the next race. also about the keeping my stuff away from them i have already fixed it so he can't mes no more with my $@#! and believe me if i catch him he wont be able to race his car every again when he dont have no hands unless he can steer with his mouth and work the gas with his toes thanx for everything guys lots of help

The real issue is the guy's son being a marshall. Guys who have to cheat like this are usually pretty easy to outdrive. But with a dishonest marshall, it won't matter how well you're driving, they'll screw you everytime.

Talk to the other drivers in your series and make sure they all know what's going on. And, if this guy's kid wants to marshall while his old man is racing, protest it before the start and sugest someone else marshall. If the president of the club won't do anything about it, deprive him of any of your business and tell him why you're giving your RC dollars to someone else. "In this hobby, money fixes everything."

I wouldn't go looking for trouble by running into the kid, especially with a father and son team. If you go after the kid, the father could very easily over react and do something stupid. There are way too many shotguns in people's cars just waiting for stuff like this......

Call me a wuss.......

Don't you just love the USA... ?
Djeezes guys... in Belgium it is SEVERLY PROHIBITED to carry a gun, so basically if you get trouble you beat the poop out of em LOL

No I'd go with Eddy's reply, don't lower yourself to their level of stupidity

Izigoth...it's funny how most of Europe looks down on th efact we are allowed to carry firearms....but there is a reason for it....it's called independence and freedom....although our rights are being stripped away daily because of the homeland security act we are still allowed to carry guns.....and I for one am glad because it's not the people here w/ legal guns that scare me.....it's the MILLIONS of illegal gun owners that are the reasons I carry one....but I also understand that it is a big responsibility and not a toy......I just hope you understand the United States isn't a bunch of MTV wannabe thugs that go around shooting each other over a parking space....there's still some of us here who would rather dole out an ass whooping before reaching for gun......

too bad you weren't closer ... sounds to me like you just need a partner in crime ... like your own marshall or another car on the track to be your blocker ...

So very true

Supermaxx83: i posted this over on the "how to protect yourself thread" but i find it might apply seriously to you to

"a guy was messing around with cars at a local track and nobody could figure out who it was. finally one day a pretty nice guy at the track decided to hide his dv camera pointed right at his stuff. sure enough midway through his time at the track the idiot messed with his stuff and about 3 others around him. anyway the guy messing with it was a friend of the owner. at first the people confronted the owner and he got upset that they would say anything bla bla bla. however when the video was brought out, everything changed really quickly. he is now banned from the track.

point is, if you can get a dv cam to catch the kid in the act, if the owner doesn't do anything about it then they will lose thier business really quickly once people find out.

Sorry to derail the thread a little bit and I'm not trying to rub people up the wrong way.

I don't think Izigoth was suggesting that everyone walks around the US looking like Rambos younger cousin but it does appear to be far easier to legally own a gun in the US than say the UK or Belgium. To be honest I don't see how being able to walk around with a gun actually improves your feeling of independance and freedom. I mean why not walk around with a perfectly legal kitchen knife?? Which is very easily a lethal weapon should need to protect yourself. As far as I see it, the more guns that are in circulation legally and illegally makes it easier to get hold of one, lets say Mr A N Other gets his house broken into and he legally owns a gun, what gets stolen? A gun, a wallet, a tv, video, an MBX5 prospec?! That gun is now in the hands of a criminal instead of Mr A N Other. That said the US had Columbine and in the UK we had Dunblane. There are no easy answers and nobody can be 100% right or wrong but I'm glad that next time I have a minor argument with someone at the lights I can be pretty sure I won't have a gun pointed at me. I wouldn't be so sure in the US.

Sorry (again) to derail.

lol, ok, not everyone has a gun. But as plaid said, the many that do would rather not use it. Many own guns because they live in a bad part of town, something europe doesn't really have, excluding prauge.....And don't say you do because I lived in europe for 7 years and saw 5 "bad parts of towns" all over europe. I'm not saying you guys don't have any, it's just that you don't have as many as the US does. :OT:
