Just wondering about how much everyone here has invested in their rc cars. Ball park figure. I have about 2200 invested in my tmaxx and that includes n00b errors that i made and had to buy more parts to rebuild it. I thought i was right about even with everyone, maybe a little less than some but last night i saw a guy on tv talking about rc's and he was showing off some car (tc3 maybe) that goes 80mph he said he had 700 invested in it.

Well.... it isn't a whole lot.... I guess I would have to say anywhere between * and * dollars total. Not a whole lot. I have 3 complete rigs and one on order (The price of that one is included in price estimate). I haven't spent a whole lot compared to most other on this forum that have been in it longer than I have. I have only been in the hobby for a little over 2 years.

Edit..... you guys are right... if my fiance saw that, I might be in for a little conversation. She knows it is expensive, and if I spend more than a hundred bucks I let her know, but I have been able to avoid actual numbers so far. I would like to keep it that way! LOL

That's a place that most of us wont go... A very scary place... lol
Leave no paper trail....

LOL...no logging in the checkbook, eh?

I would have to say that I've spent about $500 on my car and extra parts needed when I crash into something.

About 15 years in the hobby for me, with over 10 different race setups, two helicopters (first one was a JR Electric, then a Venom NightRangerII... they're a blast if trimmed correctly), a park flyer (GWS Biplane), and countless hopups, radio gear, electronics....

I can't recall the actual amount, but I've have to say it's well over the 10K mark, probably approaching 15K, if not past it.

I'm a little over one year and 3000$ into this hobby.
:opps:

Spending money on RC is just something that we do...... not something we should think about..... because some of us could buy a decent used 1:1 for what we have spent in RC... some folks probably a new one! :OMG:

I care not to ever know, I'd probably poop myself! And if wifey saw, first she'd poop, then she'd kill me. If you want a little project you can figure it out by this. I have a NTC3, a Revo with enough spares to build another Revo along with the .18TM. An XB8 with all the extras to make it a TQ and a JP Racing mod motor, and a Hot Bodies LSP-R with a Nova P5X. Airtronics M8 w/ Spektrum and I'm running 25%. Oh and charger and power supply, batteries tools and tackleboxes, starter boxes for each, ugh, I think I'm sick now! I won't include the RC only workbench

My wife asked me this question once and I told her "You ask me no questions and I tell you no lies."

I have $200, maybe a tiny bit more, but I was lucky and got my T-Maxx with Sirio 18 for free so that saved me alot to start.

Same as the ther guys I really dont want to know. I have 9 rigs (not including the 2 minis i just got) with enough spares to build 2 more. I have 3-4 spare engines, and 5 engines in various state of functionality. Countless battery packs, support equip, tackle boxes, tools, fuel, chargers, you name it. I have a full double closet in my Apartment dedicated to nothing but RC. 1/4 of all my tools are RC related (and I have ALOT of tools).

If I ever added it ALL up everything I've paid over the years I would say I'm into the 5 digit numbers.

Ifyou have to ask, you really don't want to know .... but I'll answer the question.

SINCE the new year, I've only been racing electrics on carpet every weekend. So that will be about $1600 so far (price of kit, supporting equipment, foams and spare parts). But last year I spent quite a bit more. Racing every weekend (including winters) gets expensive. WIth the addition of various kits I've purchased in one year ... I would estimate somewhere above and BEYOND 6K.

i just got into the hobby a month ago and i am nearly $700 in. that includes the price of the truck and learning mistakes like crashing into curbs. my wife found out and she almost divorced me. :opps:

WAAAAAAY more than I thought....just my LHS alone has me up to 6400.....and I know I've bought alot of stuff here and a fwe things on Flea-bay.......but I say it's better than drinking it all up and just a bowl of piss and puke to show for it

Well... sad to say, I documented everything I bought for quite a while... Then I started only keeping track of everything that was high ticket item... then I changed my spreadsheet to show actual cost vs what I paid... then I threw up.

Over 5 years:
Total Documented Paid: 4,868.77
Total Documented Cost: 5,716.10

I'm at about 1400+ i think

edit wait no: i had ~600 in my racer2 way back when. then about 600for my drake and 500 for my ntc3 so thats 1700+ :P +=hopups

I long since gave up counting. The cost of keeping a T-Maxx nearly bankrupt me. The Savage fully loaded was cheaper. The three buggies are pretty costly. The aircraft and boat that died horrible deaths some time ago cost me.

How about I say priceless because of the enjoyment I get out of playing with the toys...and leave it at that?
