I'm using a Futaba R603FS receiver and I'm wondering how tall my antenna tube should be. Do I have to have any of the coaxial in the tube? or can i just place the exposed antenna tip in the riser tube?

On my SC8 I cut the tube just long enough that when capped the antenna was barely exposed. I do have some slack inside the bat/rec box.
I haven't tested max range, but so far it's working great for me. I do think you should have the end exposed though.

On the 603FS, it has a dual antenna setup installed. One is internal. My bud's RC8T has the coaxial antenna inside the rx box. I've seen him drive it well over 200 yards with no issues.
I have the 603FF, I use about a 3-4 inch tube, I heat it with a lighter and put a 90 degree bend in it for body clearance..

3PK with a FS rx. Mine has went the same distance as well but we both use lipo rx packs with 6.5V regulators. The extra power has to help, at least in theory me thinks!
