As most of you, i had a couple Radio shack and Tyco r/c cars. About 4 years ago, i got my first R/c car action magizine, and i was hooked. I wanted a T-maxx so badly i asked my mom for one for christmas. Well, she got me an Rc10gt, which i was kinda dissapointed, but i loved it! The first run was a total disaster. I didn't know anything about these and neither did my dad, which he thought he did. I read the manual over and over and i set the idle, i had no idea what a milimeter was. So, i went outside and tried turning it over. No luck. I did everything, but i didnt prime it. So i went outside again after priming it, fired up and took off. I got up and tried to stop it, my dad took the controller and started driving it around. The idle was way too high, but my dad was having a blast. I tryed holding it down to stop it, and it stripped the spur gear. Then everything in the manual i had read dissapeared. It was just revving away. Then i pulled the fuel line off and it died. Well end of my day. I thought i was done for. But the next day i went to the hobby shop (which was like an hour away) and they fixed it. I was amazed at how many parts they had availible. Then they told me i had to break it in. Wow, i was stupid. A couple days after i was driving up my drive way at partial throttle and it dies. Ok, i try to start it up, and i can't pull the pull start. Took the backplate off and the conrod was broken in half and it pinched the bottom of the piston against the sleeve. That was an expensive fix. O well, one thing led to another and i discovered tower hobbies. That was great. That car was a total blast. It was fast and pretty reliable, except those damn e-clips. They always found a way to fall off. Well, i still have my rc10gt. I have gone through many parts and it is now one of the most hopped up rc10gts i have ever encountered. I found an engine mount on ebay for a .21 engine that will fit on the rc10gt. I had to have it. Ended up buying a hyper 8 port and putting it on there. Holy crap, this thing screams! I now have a T-maxx that is the same way, but i had almost 3 years experience when i got that one last christmas. It was a much better experience that i thought it would be. In the end, it was one of the greatest things that i could have done. I'm hoping to get lots more R/c's in the future.
