How Did U Get Started

As most of you, i had a couple Radio shack and Tyco r/c cars. About 4 years ago, i got my first R/c car action magizine, and i was hooked. I wanted a T-maxx so badly i asked my mom for one for christmas. Well, she got me an Rc10gt, which i was kinda dissapointed, but i loved it! The first run was a total disaster. I didn't know anything about these and neither did my dad, which he thought he did. I read the manual over and over and i set the idle, i had no idea what a milimeter was. So, i went outside and tried turning it over. No luck. I did everything, but i didnt prime it. So i went outside again after priming it, fired up and took off. I got up and tried to stop it, my dad took the controller and started driving it around. The idle was way too high, but my dad was having a blast. I tryed holding it down to stop it, and it stripped the spur gear. Then everything in the manual i had read dissapeared. It was just revving away. Then i pulled the fuel line off and it died. Well end of my day. I thought i was done for. But the next day i went to the hobby shop (which was like an hour away) and they fixed it. I was amazed at how many parts they had availible. Then they told me i had to break it in. Wow, i was stupid. A couple days after i was driving up my drive way at partial throttle and it dies. Ok, i try to start it up, and i can't pull the pull start. Took the backplate off and the conrod was broken in half and it pinched the bottom of the piston against the sleeve. That was an expensive fix. O well, one thing led to another and i discovered tower hobbies. That was great. That car was a total blast. It was fast and pretty reliable, except those damn e-clips. They always found a way to fall off. Well, i still have my rc10gt. I have gone through many parts and it is now one of the most hopped up rc10gts i have ever encountered. I found an engine mount on ebay for a .21 engine that will fit on the rc10gt. I had to have it. Ended up buying a hyper 8 port and putting it on there. Holy crap, this thing screams! I now have a T-maxx that is the same way, but i had almost 3 years experience when i got that one last christmas. It was a much better experience that i thought it would be. In the end, it was one of the greatest things that i could have done. I'm hoping to get lots more R/c's in the future.

it was last year and i saw my uncles rc10 running around the yard and then instantly i was looking for a nitro mt on the internet and in my lhs, and when i bought my mt my brother bought a nitro stampede then i found a tmaxx on the internet that was already hopped up for like $400 and then my whole family was into nitro rc's.

when 10-11 years old i was always into the toys r us rc cars and i got so so many of them... i must have had almost all of them, lol. then i walked into a bookstore and saw a rc car magazine. from then on i was hooked. i saw all these cars with little motors and 30-40 mph claims. i ran to my dad and he was like, no way...lol. then i forgot about it for a little less then a year. i walked into my LHS to get one of those little balsa wood airplanes and i saw one... i saw my first REAL nitro car. i was hooked just by looking at one. for my birthday my dad got me my first nitro car. he got me a ofna nitro Z-10 w/ 2 speed transmission. i am 15 now and i am still hooked. by now i have mastered the art of tuning the .12-.15 motor. i have raced 1/10th scale touring cars for a while. i have had 6-7 cars and trucks already, and i am now just getting into 1/8th scale buggy's. can't wait, i just got my ofna hyper 7 PBS RTR. it is on its way in the mail.

back in 99' i saw a kid driving a nmt on the street with him chasing cars and stuff and went inside his house and looked at an hpi catalog... sooner or later i had an rs4 racer 2 which i used for about 3/4 of a year and shelved it for two years till i got my current (much more easy to maintain) batch of cars

I have always been infatuated with cars, speed, and racing. So it was a natural thing as a kid to be drawn towards remote controlled cars(whether or not they had a cord STILL attached).

However, as I grew up in Hickory NC(we know Cheerwine, Sun Drop and racing) and had racers already in my family I started racing stockcars. The problem was that I REALLY wanted to do road racing. Well.....in Hickory, if you're not racing the oval at HMS or Tri county....good luck finding sponsors. Then I was hit with the road racing death blow.......I'm 6'7" and 265-285lbs. I'm just too big. Tried losing muscle and weight, but at skin and bones I'm 220lbs.

So.......I came to realise my RC cars and trucks don't care how big I am and don't slow down if I hit the buffet real hard one day. :smoke: I've come full circle and couldn't be happier and can take a weekend off and throw my bud's car around at an SCCA event every once in a while.

I started out Flying about 2 years ago or so, and at the time I had only one plane, which I had just crashed and was goona be down for a while and had some work to do. So in the mean time I bought a Tmaxx Pro 15 to beat around with till I got my plane fixed, and got hooked. Within the 1st two months of having the maxx (and nudges from Zandor) I did a .21 conversion and LOVED it! Then i ended up selling it, and getting 2 rc10 gts and have had probably 4 MTs since then, and Now have a Savage 25 I bash with and I think I'm in love with..lol (Not liek that...pervs...lol) So I think this truck will be around for a while... Oh yeah, and that plane is STILL waiting to be completly fixed..lol

A buddy of mine needed bar money, and offered to sell me his Nitro Rush for $20. How can you turn that down!
