How did u get started in RC.
I got started in rc cars at about 6yrs I had a little black car on a cord and through the years I had many different radio shack type cars but then at about 9 I saw my first gas powerd and it rocked and at 14 I started to save up and got a Sportmaxx. And I have hours of fun with it and racing it has is a blast.
So how did u gat started.

My wife got me am RC10 B3 for some occasion I think it was our anniversary many years ago. I built it, and played with it for several months then shelved it. I took it off the shelf once or twice a year for several years.

About 4 years ago a friend got a T-Maxx and I couldn't let him get the better of me so I got one as well. here I am 15 or so RCs later and he still has his original T that I have to fix every time I see him.

I built and flew plains when I was in Jr. High and HS. Some time just after the Write Brothers made it popular

My dad got me started in r/c planes back when I was a sophomore in high school. I was heavily into plans for about 2 or 3 years.

Two years after learning to fly planes, i got my first r/c car, a HPI RS4 Nitro MT. that was working off and on. I was just too n00b for my own good. Somehow or another I got decent at cars and i'm more about them than planes. I hardly fly anymore. Although i'm hoping to get back into it more.

My nephew got a Tamiya Frog back in the 80s, and I thought it was totally amazing. I got a Grasshopper, then a better motor, then more and more parts and upgrades.
I guess I had about $500 or more into them, and just sold ALL of it last summer for $40.
About 2 months later, I found out they were collectables.
I've been flying R/C nitro planes for years. Lived for it. I went to the LHS one day for parts, and they were breaking in a new Tmaxx. I just headed for the door when I heard it shift, and turned to the owner and asked, "What the hell was that?" He drove it back up the lot and stopped it by me, then showed me an electric starter and REVERSE, as well as a 2 speed trans.
I was hooked. I've sold several planes lately in favor of staying on the ground.

Ya their is something majestic about that 2 speed.
I may be weird to u guys but that sound just makes me love this sport even more and I dont know why.

when I was 19 and selling cars one of my buddies (a tech) brought in his HPI road car. I was blown away. I wanted to get one but couldn't afford it. years later, ('03) after getting married and moving I saw my new neighbor outside with a nitro MT (not sure what kind). After that I knew I had to get one. Toldmy wife the story and she got me a T-Maxx for X-mas in '03. i'm still pretty new but itchin to get into the racing scene.. loads of fun and totally addictive.

lol, that ain't weird. Sadly, I haven't really heard a two speed shift from my car in a few years. I found it to be best with my engine's powerband to have 2nd gear kick in at a really low rpm.

But anyhoo, for me, it's the wrenching that's the best part. I love to fix things.

I got my first car when i was like 10 with my dad.It was a nitro 4-tec pro. Then my second car was a ofna but i still had the 4-tec. Then i sold the 4-tec and bought a sportmaxx and a t-maxx, so now i have two cars for messing around with the parts and trying to use them and my two maxx's for bashing

I have had radio shack, wal-mart rcs for many years, ever since I was a kid. I always had fun with them but never thought much about the real ones until I went over my brother in laws house and he had a RS4 2 and a Hyper 7. After seeing them run I had to have one. Now I have 6 RCs and wanting more, I am a total addict, lol.

I've always been into cars. At a really young at I had the power wheel jeep and stuff. Then for xmas I Used to get Toy's R Us ones. Then that moved up to Radioshack. (I asked them for their looks). So one day in about 1997 I walked into HobbyTown USA wtih some spare birthday money wanting to buy a slotcar track. Well on the counter was a used Bolink Digger for $100.00 RTR. So I thought it looked really cool again, And i bought it. I loved it because of the precise handling from the foams that today I know of and stuff. So then i was in the drugstore with my mom one day when i was about 11 and I saw a RC Car Action mag, I bought that and gazed at all the cars in there. My second hobby level r/c was a traxxas nitro rustler (the Pro .15 one) back in 1999-2000. Followed by a RC10T3, Because I gave up on nitro for awhile there. Then I got back into nitro after i bought an emaxx and got a Team Losi XXXNT Sport RTR. It was a hard choice between that and its rival the RC10GT RTR. It was a load of fun and i begin to learn how to actually tune a nitro engine. Then I got a RC10GT Factory team from a good friend of mine that 1k went into really quick. I sold all of them and bought my T-Maxx for my 14th Birthday. I had that for a year and counting to right now. I bought a buggy from a guy at my LHS Track and i still have it and love it. (Mugen MBX4 XR). R/c is really fun and yet pricey but it keeps me occupied. I am almost 16 and I love the hobby. I'll be in it for a long long time. Later

in 84 I made a deal w/ my mom if I got at least B's on report card she would but the car kit and I would work and save the rest to buy the controller/batt/charger....I got a tamiya Falcon, Attack controller and MRC RB-497 charger...which I still use for charging Batts today.....then I got into Losi buggys and had a good electric buggy or stadium truck for a while.... I still have my last Losi from 92.......I tried a nitro 1/8 scale kyosho and hated Nitro.....saw the "ease" of the new nitro stuff a year ago when I was laid up from knee injury....and just went crazy w/ it......

When I was a freshamn in high school I had saved up enough money from X-mas and New Years to get my first real RC, an RC10. Raced it in my parents backyard that summer with a few friends until a battery charging mishap ended all my fun. I accidentally overcharged a pack and the heat melted the carpet in my parents living room. Fast forward about 15 years. Now I'm married, about to have my first child in 3 months and just suddenly out of the blue got the itch for an RC. Maybe something about having a child of my own made me yearn for one of my best childhood memories. So I went down to Hobby Town and the only kit available was the Savage SS so I picked it up and have been hooked ever since.

When I was 12 years old, my friend bought a Kyosho Ultima buggy. SO my mom bought me a RC10 that I put together and ran for a couple years. Got bored with it when I discovered girls and started to get back into it a couple years ago.

I had just started driving, & had to bring my car in for a tune-up... While waiting for the mechanics to finish up, I walked across the street to a Mom & Pop Hobby shop, where I found my first real R/C. A week later I returned to purchase an electric MRC Thunder King .
This thing was huge.. Bigger than the Mammoth...
Used it just about every weekend for a year or so, then started working 2 jobs, & dropped the hobby. In the late 80's, I purchased a Losi XXT, & a month later, got the XXT CR, and began racing at a local Hobby Shop..
They were later put in storage, & sold to a co worker of mine for his kids...

Years later, I was leaving my shop to head home, & I heard this wonderful sound from the back lot... I took a walk back and saw a guy running a Tmaxx up a huge sand hill.. I was hooked instantly... Got my Bro-In-Law (Msly), & a good friend (wilsncat), to buy one...
Well, lets just say "I have a problem", an R/C addiction to this day.... :)

When iwas like 12 my dad got me a t-maxx to try and teach me how a real car worked. He told me he expected me to drop rc cars. His plan went oppisite. I have 3 rc cars of my very own.

was about 13 are so and saw a buddy of mine with an rc10 fox electric. Man that thing was quick for the day. I got a grasshopper , he got a bolink innvader. I kinda got tired of charging batteries for a day to run them for 15 minutes cause back then a quick charger was mass high. I was 22 are so and saw a nitro Tmaxx that the same guy that had the Fox had. I couldnt beleave it those kicked more ass than just a little. I got a Rustler didnt know anything about them fried the engine. A friend gave me a USA-1 and an Inferno. Those havent been run yet. I am just now rebuilding the USA-1 back to a runnable condition. It should take its first run in about in about 2 weeks. The Rustler now has the 2.5 and alot of aluminum and fiber.

When I was about 11 or 12 my dad bought my little brother and I radio shack 4 wheel drive electric trucks we had them about a week before we decided to take them apart and see how we could make them faster lol and we did to made them 2 wheel drive, we then put back all the gears for the 4wd and made a huge mud pit next to the house and sent them bogging unbelievable they still worked after that lol. They where finally destroyed after years of abuse and never had anything untill about 2 years ago I was in a bad car accident and wasn't able to work I was going insane being home so I was searching ebay and came across a fairly cheap electric rustler bought it and soon after caught the rc bug I have had 3 rustlers one hpi rs4 I then sold the hpi and made some good money on it twice what I paid for it so I bought a T-Maxx I also sold one of the rustlers. My 2 boys fell in love with the rustlers so thats what they got for x-mass I want to get a nitro stadium truck sometime lol and mabe another touring car and hehe ok mabe not right away my wife might hang me if I get to many more right now. Its a great family hobby kind of exspensive but thats why there is ebay lol I have purchased every rc vehical and parts from there and gotten great deals :)
