I started getting to building myself a track at home. Tarp down to kill the grass about 26x11. Once it get down to dirt I can start adding features and grading the flats.

Always in favor of anything that equals Sq. FT. Less lawn mowing.
git a home track? Share some pics. Am looking for ideas. The space i have laid out is probably good for an oval or figure 8 design. Lets see what ya got!!

i don't have a track, anymore, kinda used to about 15 years ago, it was just a dirt oval with some small dirt jumps, i think i have a pic ill post when i get home later today.
i do however have ramps that i throw down on what's left of my lawn and kind of drive that like a track.

Way back when I was a young teenager, I started building a track in the backyard for my Frog and Optima. Parents at work; I didn't ask permission; grass trimmer (I call them weed whackers) full of gas... what could go wrong? I got the whole inside/outside boundary of the track done and Dad comes home...

DENIED! 😞
I was devastated. I mean, we lived in a rural area with no neighbors nearby (on our side of the road). Nobody was even going to see the track from the road.

Twenty some years later, wife and I moved to the country. Wife said she didn't care. I lowered the mower deck and poof... I have a track. 🤪😂 It's not the prettiest thing nor is it well groomed. It's a bumpy, rutted, dusty dirt track with a few skateboard jumps. Big enough to open the throttle for a half second and test suspensions.

I have TONS of photos, but it doesn’t exactly translate well if you haven’t stood on my deck (AHEM-make that “Driver’s Stand w/grill” 😜🤘🍻)..

This is the most recent video I have of it.. 225’ x 80’ 1/8 Off-Road deal.. This was very early stages of the endeavor.. More will come soon, as it’s all I’ve been doing lately, but I am just a one man wrecking crew, so.. 😅

That 'Pro Shop' could use a window! 🤪

I know the tarp on its own this time of year will take months to kill the grass....I also know the homemade solution that kills anything green in less than a week.View attachment 255649

I’ve used every method you can think of, and the best two by far would have to be RM43, or if you’re not big on giving everyone Cancer-a weed eater, and some decent line, like Echo’s “Black Diamond”..

Home made weed killer applied, tarp is back on....should have a nice brown rectangle by this time next week
This is the EXACT same thing Mrs Doom said about @Doom! 's clean undies! 🤷‍♀️😲🤣

To elaborate from my earlier track makin' (denied) story... Just make sure to wear pants, especially if you're teenager and first-time whackin' stuff down to the ground.

Not my picture, but my leg looked worse than what's in the photo. I had huge red-purplish whipping marks  🤪. That freakin' plastic line hurts! Duh, Rusty. I wore pants for a longest time until leg healed. My Dad would have givin' me a second whoopin' if he knew what I did while trying to make my track.

After yesterday's trip I think my home track will do well set up for my mini b sized vehicles given the space I have available. Got a little ecx ruckus I can run out there too....once I get it's needed repairs done. Winter is coming, I may not get it usable till the spring. Tarp had snow on it yesterday morning.

Progress!!!! Grass is gone, banks at either end of the oval are at least shaped in. Anyone with ideas on anything I should add to make the surface as good as possible? At the moment, my plans are just to keep working at grading. And watering. I can worry about jumps and what not later.

Nicely started! 🤪
It's probably gonna be nicely started fir a bit.....physically I did way more than I should have today....and I will pay for it the few days I am sure.
If weather holds, and I'm up for it, I imagine myself running a few laps with the ruckus tomorrow. I should think it will be way more at home there then when I had it on the carpet track this week, lol.
