I don't know which motor to get for my Mp9e Evo v2. Because the 4268 is 2500Kv, which is a bit much kv. But then the 4278 is 2250kv, which is lower. But I have read that some people don't like to run that big of a motor in a buggy because you get too much tourqe and that it can't really put down the power to the ground.

Any advice would be helpful

(System will be a max 8 g2 combo, g2s esc and g2 motor)

So you would recommend the 4278 even though it is a bit of a big motor for a buggy?
There are few instances where I’d recommend a Hobbywing anything. I don’t know enough about the way they classify their motors. It LOOKS to me to be a truggy can, and I’d run buggy can motor only in buggy. You can get away with a buggy can in a truggy, but not the other way around… It’s just too much for the vehicle, and often times won’t fit PHYSICALLY..

I’ve used Tekin exclusively since the late 80’s, and still run their stuff in all of my electrics. That’ll likely never change based on my experience, and what I’ve seen of other manufacturers, and their products’ owners.

Any recommendations for a waterproof sensored system for about the same price as the hobbywing (180€ for me)
NOTHING is “waterproof” no matter what they may say, or elude to.. There are often setups that may be water RESISTANT, but that means next to nothing imo in RC. Humidity/water and electrical components flat out don’t mix.

Max8 G2 combo would be the best budget system for sensored. Castle is a bit more expensive. anything race grade like xr8 and other brands would be on the top. Only way you could go cheaper is by the 8BL150 G2 / WP, but that is sensorless.

@Littlemotor so for my Typhon build I would be better going with the 4268 right? Since I plan on going 8BL150 unless I change my mind and get more into racing and get a Max8 G2 combo.

I honestly wouldn’t feel comfortable recommending anything from Hobbywing as far as 1/8 stuff is concerned. I’m just the wrong guy to ask. Tekin? Yep. Castle? Yep. The only thing I know regarding HW, is what I’ll run in my 1/14 stuff as Tekin doesn’t have that covered, and Castle is too much loot for what I’m aiming to do.

I know there are many others on the forum that can chime in on that stuff however.. All I can really say is don’t run a truggy can in a buggy. Too heavy, too much asss, and too much footprint in a smaller chassis.

The thing is that all of the tekin and castle products are way out of my budget. Do you know any other brand that is closer to hobbywing prices?

Have you thought about Surpass Hobby? I do realize they’re not as “upper echelon” as some other top tier brands, but I do know a LOT of folks that've had great results in the 1/12-1/14 off-road world with their motors..

This one from Donuts Racing in France, looks to be a great fit for your needs imho.. I’ve also got a few friends in France, and the Netherlands that swear by Donuts..🤙

And pair it with this HW ESC… Not sensored, buuuuuut within your budget, or very close to it..

If you absolutely have to have sensored, or are like myself, and cannot stand the color red-you may very well be alright with the 4268 combo, and just get a GOOD 40mm fan, and mount for that motor, and stick to running no larger than a 13-14t pinion.

I presume this will be running 4s? I say 4268. I run a 2560kv (I think) been in there for years, in an Xray buggy. I've seen it hit 150f , no fan. It runs great though. I'd say not to sell the MP9 short with a budget system, but TBH that's allI run, budget chit.
Heck, I'd dropa Quicrun 150a combo in for $108 and never look back, but that's me. Coupon code EXOCAGEDRC for 10% off.

I just bought the Hobbywing Quicrun combo with their 8BL150 ESC and 4268-2000kv motor.

It is going in my Corally Asuga XLR *uggy, which is going to become a land missile for speed runs against my son's Vendetta. :naughty:

I have a few Surpass motors, been great to me.
No offense intended brother, just sharing my 02🤣🍻
And TBH, I couldn't care less if the freakin stuff is pink! LOL. Really don't pay attention to that stuff. 😜

We are in agreement homie! 🤷🏻‍♂️🤣🍻

One day I'll witness Tekin in person, I do and don't wanna, if you know what I mean. Can't miss what I never experienced, LOL.
I’ve let guys drive my stuff, and they’re in utter disbelief lol.. Then they “had to make an update” to their electronics program…🤷🏻‍♂️🤣

It’s even moarrrrrrr ludicrous with the Tekin batteries.. The battery guru’s and C-rating Nazi’s can say whatever they want; you do NOT wanna drive a Tekin Graphene LiHV… -for the same reason you “do but do NOT wanna witness”…🤣😜 Most folks are plenty happy with being able to grab (4) CNHL, or Ta-Ta packs to my (1) Tekin though.. I can’t say I’d fault them for that logic either. -but there’s no going back for me. Never gonna happen..

My fears, exactly!😂
TBH, I can't want to go any faster where I run, too small. Would just end up with more broken parts.

Exaaaaaactly… Bigger/faster/nastier is NOT always better. Getting around your track cleanly is imo. And having the most FUN possible. That’s not always provided by sheer power. Definitely a balance to be had there for sure. 🍻🤙
