hobao hyper 7 rally cross OUT OF CONTROL

Hi,
I am very new to all of this and I have bought a second hanbd hobao hyper 7 rally cross in pieces and I just managed to get it back together..
now the engine starts after 2 pulls which is great but it then seems to be stuck in full throttle
I kind of know about the STNV the MNV the SFN and the TAS
but I don't have a full grasp on what does what
and how do I solve the problem of the engine raceing when it is now started!!

The what??

The throttle is obviously wide open somehow.
Check the trim on your transmitter, the throttle linkage, the carb linkage. Take the horn off the throttle servo and re-center it. Check there is nothing fouling in the carb inlet, or that the idle screw isnt screwed in way too far.

Something definitely seems to be holding the throttle open.

mnv = main needle valve
SFN = Supply Fuel Valve
TAS = Throttle Adjustment Screw
STNV = Sub Throttle Needle Valve

Ok if the throttle is open then where do I stat to look??
The Clutch?? the STNV?? the TAS??

Like I said, check that your throttle servo is centered 1st, just remove the horn and re-center it.
Make sure all the linkages on the throttle are free to move. Is the slide in the carb itself stuck wide open?
These are all things I would check first before you start playing around with your LSN, HSN or idle screws.

I had taken the throttle linkage off the servo
and the same problem..
I also turned the idle screw all the way out then adjusted it one turn at a time inwards with no luck..
ok.. here is a newbie question can I spray WD40 ( it fixes everything he he he) in to the Carb to see if that flushes out anything??

Yes you can !

Check the servo reverse option on your receiver. if the throttle is shut when the electronics are off and wide open when the transmitter and receiver are switched on, then it's down to the throttle revers option on the radio.

well when I pull back on the receiver the apature closes
and when I push forward it opens??

NO, that's reversed(backwards), should be the other way around.

I like the fact when I push the throttle forward the car goes forward and when I pull it back the car slows down or breaks!!

New problem

Hi,
I was just wondering if it is normal for the hyper to be spitting alot of gas..
I managed to start the engine and got it running perfectly but with in 2 mins it managed to eat through a half a tank of gas..
how do I stop this!

trinbagonet, it "sounds" like you may be running on the rich side and may need to tune the engine a little. Running rich is not bad for the engine, but running too rich can be as bad as running too lean.

If you have a manual that details the settings for the carburettor needles (HSN & LSN) and details how to tune the engine, follow the manual. If not, you will need to let us know what engine you have in the buggy and someone, who has the same engine, will be able to point you in "roughly" the right direction. i say roughly, because evry engine is different when it comes to final tuning.

thanks Thunder_Tiger_EB4_S2_Pro it is running a bit rich I was told it is a good way to keep the engine cool and not blow it out..
but I would like to reduce the spitting a bit..
half a tank of gas in 2 mins is a lot..
I have a hyper 21 engine.. for a hyper 7 car..

so if someone out there could point me in the direction of a Vid that shows good turning techniques I would be appreciated..
I am having lots of fun with this car...

I know one prob at a time but I seem to have messed up my rear diff also on my first run.. the car took a spectacular tumble when I made a quick turn and hit the break on the grass..he he he.. the back wheels are not spinning... any out know of a vid that will take me through the steps on taking it apart..and putting it back together
