Just curious if anyone else has had the same issue I have with hitec and JR servo's.

In the past year, I've gone through 3 hitec and 4 JR servo's. All ended the same, twitching or complete electronics failure. I took care of them, kept them dry with silicone and balloons, but after a gallon or two of run time, they would start twitching and then die completely shortly there after.

I've had 2 JR 270's, 2 JR 590M's, 2 Hitec 645MG's and 1 Hitec 625MG. The 270 , 590's and 625 were throttle/brake servo's and the 645's were steering.

I'm currently running an airtronics standard for throttle/brake on both my savage and maxx. They came with my 2 MX-3 Radios I bought. And to replace the two 645's, I asked the LHS what he recommended and he sold me a couple Futaba S3305's at $5 cheaper than tower. One of which broke (the mounting ears busted on my savage mounted servo) but all I need is a new case ($10), the one in the maxx is going on it's second gallon of life and is performing flawlessly.

Am I expecting to much out of a middle of the road bunch of servo's?

If you still have the recipts and the boxes for the hitecs contact them and they will replace them at no cost.I know this first hand itsmesag did this with no problems they (Hitec) even sent a new one befor he sent his back

Thanks, but I don't keep much of anything for packaging. I kept the futaba boxes but only because they are plastic and make good small parts containers. If it isn't over $100, I don't keep the receipts either.

With that kind of track record, I don't think I'll buy anything of JR and hitec, but if I do, then I'll keep the packaging.

I've used the JR 270 and 590M in an HPI touring car for 3 years, as well as the Hitecs that you have in 2 stadium trucks for 4 years. I've seen flawless performance from all of them. One time I thought the JR 590 was going bad, but it was due to the servo wiring rubbing on a driveshaft. A little shrink wrap and it's still going strong. Is it possibly related to a certain receiver?

Nope. I've had 4 different recievers. The first where JR AM receivers (125's I think), the next were the crappy traxxas receivers that come in a maxx and the last is the expensive FM recievers that came with my MX-3 Radios.

I haven't used half of the servo's since they started freaking out, but I did pull them out and try them on my new radio's with the same issues that they had before just to check. I think I'm finally going to toss them. I have 4 crappy traxxas servo's that all died as well.

Maybe I'm just hard on my equipment? I run servo savers on the steering (the maxx is the pro-line upgrade and the savage has the MP upgrade). On throttle/brake, I run soft springs on both sides as a buffer... I just don't get it.

If stuff happens to get wet, I pull it apart and dry it completely before useing it again. Most of the servo's were siliconed up and ballooned as well.

I use the 590m in my rc10gt for steering, and havn't seen any problems yet. I'm sure it gets splashed with fuel on a regular basis as well.

I think the only hi dollar servo's I'll buy will be airtronics stuff. Our local shops only keep one of the 348 airtronics in stock because no one ever breaks em. In fact last week, he said he hadn't sold one in probalby a year.

I use Hitec in all my RCs and I have never had one fail. I use 625mg for throttle/brake, I use 645mg and 5645mg servos for steering, and I love em.

I have two 1/8 offroad cars and all jr servos two 590s and 2 650 raced them the whole season so far no problems. I have gone through two radios but maybe I should be more protective of them.

I have only used Hi-Tech servos and not one has ever failed me. No negative experience with them in MANY years.

I do believe Humboldt Blazer had a bad experience. You might want to PM him and see.

Yup I had a ton of bad luck with Hitec myself, JR's have been solid (except the fuel saturated one...oops) Everyone has different experiences it just felt like I happened to get all HiTecs lemons or something. I actually really like Futaba's stuff after trying it, but I think my next set of Digi's will have to be some KO Propos.

JR 590s and 650s are not very dependable for me either or any of my rc friends around here.. Some last 3 months, some 3 minutes. Running the rubber mounts helps tons as off- road rcs take a beating, not to mention they are working hard on monsters, truggies and such. The JR 9000 and 9100 series are worth every penny though. No one has killed one of these around here. My 9000t has 10 very hard gallons on it, it has developed a tiny bit of slop in the gears but I run my servo saver tight with it on steering duty. Couple friends have bought the newer 9100t servos with perfect results as well. I am a stickler for endpoint adjustments btw.
I stripped one Hitec 5645 in my Savvy but a 20 dollar rebuild put it good as new.
Heck now that I thought about it, that Hi-tec went puddle diving once on a misjudged jump. It was completely submerged, did not phase it one bit.

I'll blame this one on the bud light.
