It's a 2002 Suzuki GS500E with 7000 miles on it. Went to go look at it last night and managed to bring him down to $2400 (kelly blue book is $2500). I put a $300 deposit and will bring him a certified check later today. Gonna have a friend ride the bike to my house on Thursday. The bike is REALLY nice, it looks almost brand new except for a few scratches from a minor crash. It started up right away, and it seemed the owner really took really good care of it.

I'll get a temporary permit once finals are over, then start riding in the neighborhood. Hopefully I can get into an MSF class sometime before the end of June, then I can start riding in the street. I haven't told my dad about the bike yet, I figure i'll just let him find it in the garage. Should be a good father/son bonding thing since my dad rides also. It'll be nice to go out with rides with him.

Kwong, that’s a nice bike, and a great idea to go with the coarse. That will stop you from picking up any bad habits from the start. Look into getting yourself some leathers, just incase you bite it you will be protected.
Slothy, what kind of bike is that you have for your project? I was thinking the way you ride you may want to convert it to a unicycle…LOL Nice riding, I like to keep mine on two wheels, I don’t bounce like I use to.

Until I sell the rest of my car and r/c stuff, it'll be just a helmet and gloves for riding in the neighborhood. I'll buy the jacket, pants, and boots sometime before I take the bike on normal streets.

I was thinking it was a roadstar, they look diffrent with out all the tins on them. I have a 03 roadstar le, love the bike.

Hey kwong, is that a single cylinder bike? Just curious. Nice looking ride, but it would never haul my fat a** around ;) Hope your a little guy, or at least thin!

I never understood the stunt riding on those things. Moto-cross bike, yes, street bike... I just don't get it. It's cool and everything to watch, but looks like a good way to trash an expensive bike!

And your body. My dad is a surgeon, and he calls people who drive motorcycles organ doners...some many people do stupid poop with them. Not bashing you kwong...seems as if you have learned your lesson...as have I hehe. Just be careful with it...wow I just sounded like my dad lol. Have fun!

I loved driving my bike when I was a kid. Rain, snow or shine, I was on it.

Then I healed faster and lived in the middle of bufu Iowa, but it was a blast. Cruising down gravel back roads at 70mph hoping a raccoon or something didn't come out accross the road.

Nothing like a 160lb kid on a yamaha yz 250... man, I out ran a lot of cops on that thing ;)... stupid kids.

Winter was a little tough, but I had spike tires for driving on ice and carharts. Also, a pair of oaklie's to keep the eyes from the wind... those were the days.

It's a 2 cylinder 4-stroke. I believe it's rated at 51hp, more of a beginner bike. Supposed to do about a mid 13 second 1/4 mile time, so it's not entirely slow. But I am pretty damn light, so the bike should work pretty good for me. It's kinda funny, the bike runs about the same 1/4 mile time as my dad's 1976 BMW r/90S, and his isn't a beginner bike.

Oh, my mom officially knows about the bike. Dunno if my dad's knows yet ;)

Also, I don't think i'll ride the bike hard. I'm naturally a show-off kinda person, but as long as I took my adderal in the morning, I won't do stupid stuff. I'm good about not doing crazy stuff when the meds are in my bloodstream.

Anyhoo, I figure i've got 2-3 years on it before I can afford another one. The bike should keep me entertained for that time for sure. Figure i'll just keep perfecting everything.

lol like this? - na they get a good year or so of staying pretty then get turned into POS beaters - 900RR was bought salvage title for stunting after i sold 750 to another peep who wanted to beat the shiat outa it. But now I'm old so cruiser/chopper is what ill rock from now on.

thats what i thought when i bought my first street bike (94 cbr600 back) - until i road a bigger bike - shortly after riding it, i got bigger bike (00 gsxr750).

but sounds like you have a straigh head on those shoulders - you should have tons of fun.

Slothy... those are my dream bikes!!! :whhooo: I always wanted one of those... sweet bike kwong, that'll be lots of fun!

Well once I have mastered most of basic racing moves, high-rpm downshifting with perfect match revving, cornering technique, all that jazz (dunno what all is involved with motorcycles)...once i'm to the point where I can't progress and i've got money in the bank, then i'll upgrade.

But the bike i bought isn't all that fast, but it's got enough to where I could learn a lot and i'd imagine if I can gain enough skill, i'd be able to take down sportbikes in the twisties just through good riding skills.

Sometime i'd like to do a track day with the bike, but i'll have to see once I start riding and see how much I like it.

i was thinking about getting one of those
but it was a 250
1100
12000 miles on it tho
nice condition

I'm still looking for an '83-84 Gamma 550. Best 2 stroke road bike I ever rode, although I am a little tall for it. I fit a Ducati better for seat height.
