Has anyone successfully setup pcAnywhere on DSL with a dynamic IP?
If so, I would love some help.

Win XP
LinkSys Router
SBC DSL

Thanks,
Ed

I told you Real VNC. Why would you want to work with a slower program that you have to pay for? What are you thinking PC Anywhere is going to do opposed to Real VNC?

While I haven't used pcAnywhere 11 I have used other versions, what problems are you having?

My issue is I don't have a fixed IP.
To get fixed IP addys in the 3 locations will cost me a total of $60.00 a month more in addition to the already over priced access fees.

Real VNC needs a fixed IP and PCanyWhere claims not to need one.
I have 20 copies of pcanywhere in stock so I'm not worried about getting the software nor am I hooked on using any one particular brand of software.

I just need one that I can get up and going without a huge monthly expense.
I'm wide open for ideas.

I need to be able to access all of My PCs from any of my store locations.

This is cool.
OK
As per HBs recommendation I will use VNC.
I'm an Idiot in this subject so with everyones help lets see if we can get this going.
Where do I start?

At dyndns, what do I need to sign up for and how many different accounts do I need ?
Is this the place to start or do I need to do something else first?

Remember I have 3 separate locations that need to be accessed from each other and to each other.

Lets take this one step at a time.

Ok install Real VNC on a PC at each location. At the end of the install you will be asked to set a password, do so and make it the same for all 3 is my suggestion. Just say yes and next to everything. Install the server not just the viewer as you will need the whole application. Once installed let me know the rest is EASY.

I am at one location now. I'm assuming I will go through the same steps at each location in due time.

Downloading now...

Once installed at that local let me know, I will login to your PC and show you how it works. And in turn I will let you login to my PC to see how it works from that side. Once you see how easy it is you will say OMG!

Ooh wait I will need to try that from home since I am at work. I leave @ 1pm and will be home for the rest of the day. Let me knoe and I will call you and walk you through it.

I guess I don't understand.
How does it get past the firewall and how will you know where on the WWW to find my computer?

So do you want to understand the programming and architecture? Or do you just want me to help you install it and get it to work?

My advice is first become fimilar with instalation and use, then I will help explain the "how" it works. I thought you wanted to take this step by step? Did you install it yet?

Its all installed on one computer and in the system tray.
I also assigned a password.

I was just under the impression other things needed to be done due to the fact I don't have a static IP.

Your in the drivers seat my friend.

I'm on broadband.
I need to be able to communicate with the other computer without someone having to accept the invitation. More of a VPN

Thanks to HB!!!!!!!! It works great

Download and install Real VNC www.realvnc.com (FREE)

Register @ www.gotdns.com (Free) to turn your dynamic IP into a virtual address.

Download 3D watch www.eurocomp.info/3D/ to keep your address updated when it changes. (10.00) There may be some free ones I didn't look yet.

If you have a router, punch a hole in it and assign the port to your computers internal addy.

Works great.

Again,
Thanks HumboldtBlazer! I know I'm not an easy person to deal with!
