I've got a few songs on 45s and haven't been able to find them in mp3 format. Anyone have a good way to make an mp3 from a 45?

Try torrentz.com/search (requires utorrent or similar) or other P2P-networks.
You can try finding Apps (many are free!) in the 'net that can convert WMA/WAV/...etc to mp3 if the file you obtained isn't in the mp3-format
the product you might be looking for is a '1/4 to 1/8 in' jack (or 6.5 to 3.5mm), which also comes with software bundled...just ask radioshack or similar.
another way is similar to converting VHS-tapes to AVI/DivX...use the video converter to convert it to WAV or similar, and then use video software that can extract the audio to a seperate audio-file and you should be able to get it to mp3-format now.

The easiest way to convert your LPs over "legally" is to get something that can record audio in a fairly decent format. I personally used nero express essentials (came with my burner).
The next thing you will need is an "attenuater", which will clean up the audio signals.
After that, go to radio shack, get a pair of RCA->headphone cables and some rca-rca stereo cables (they have the attenuater as well). Connect it all up to your Line-In jacks on your sound board, and have at it.
Note, if you don't have Nero, Audacity will do the same job, and it's free, if memory serves.
I had to do the same thing with a few cassettes a while back. It wasn't exactly easy, but I got the job done.

Yes, converting vinyl records to computer files is what I'm after. Thanks for the interesting link. By the way, they are called 45 rpm records, because that's how fast they turn.
I purchased one of these about two years ago to convert all my wax to .mp3, worked like a charm and came with software to clean the files up (remove the cracks and pops associated with vinyl).
