i got an aftershock for christmas i have problems brakes keep grabing, have to give almost full throtle to get moving any tips also any tips to help with tunning thank you for any help

is it idling or near idling when you give it full throttle?

if its revving hard to overcome your brakes, its your brake adjustments. look around your brakes for any nylock nuts which you can loosen and/or adjust your linkage length.

if its near idle, its your servo adjustment. take off the servo arm, turn on the rx and tx, neutral the tx, and then replace the arm back on as you would like it when idle. you can then do finer adjustments with your linkages.

Have you tried checking the RC battery is fully charged? Also check the brake lag on your throttle linkage. Make sure on your TX, that your you have enough pull/throw on the throttle/brake setting.

this is not my first rc it is my first nitro rc but what is going on is the brakes seem like they are grabing in nuetral if i roll the truck with engine off and tx and rx on they are grabing.......also when i give gas to get rolling i have to give alot of throttle to get truck moving is it a clutch problem as well as a different problem with the brakes? the batteries are charged

Turn on the Tx and Rx. Do NOT start the truck. Push it by hand and see if it's binding. Now pull full trigger to see if the brakes release. If this is the case, you need to make a mechanical and/or trim adjustment.

i did that and the brakes still seem to be binding when i pull the triger the brakes release.....also is it normal to have to aply alot of throtle to get truck moving is this a clutch problem.....thank you for all the help this site is awsome

You say, "When I pull the trigger, the brakes release." That tells me that you need to adjust the brake linkage to loosen them up. That's also the reason you have to give it a lot of throttle to get it moving.
Start by looking at the brakes, and see if they are grabbing. If so, follow the linkages and adjust them to loosen them up.
To make it easy, remove the control horn from the servo and see if they release. If the truck still drags, you have another problem other than the brakes. Could be a bad bearing binding.

thank you i have fixed the brakes with your help now it still needs alot of throttle to get going I've read on another thread that someone replaced the clutch any recomendations on a better clutch once i get going it is fine its just the take off

There's a very good possibility that the clutch is glazed from all the slipping with your brake problem.
Remove the clutch bell and scuff the shine off the inside of the cb and the outside of the shoes with a green scrubby pad or fine sandpaper.
If that doesn't do it, then your slipper clutch needs to be tightened. (let us know)
One thing at a time, we'll get you running.

thank you i manage an autobody shop so i have all the scuff pads and sand paper i need i am also doing a custom paint job on a clear body i will post pics in a couple of weeks of the paint job thank you for all the help

Perfect. Rip a corner off a sheet of 320 for the cb.
Make sure you use the paints that are compatible with the body. Standard auto paints will crack, and some will peel.
Check out Spaz Stix or Parma.

thank you i will check them out i will let you know if that takes car of the problem with the clutch thanks again

i have fixed alot of aftershocks and wow i have never seen such a pile when it comes to a losi truck.....out of the box you have to fix it and i have contacted losi and if you call them they will send you new parts if you tell them whats wrong i have had a lot of clutch probs and brake probs and also a few motors that had NO o-rings in them at all and leaked air really bad..... Try using dynamite long life shoes and try using pen springs in between the brake shoes and wow you will notice a big difference but you might have to adjust the linkage a little bit.........i hope i could help i didnt mean nothing by calling your truck a pile but i meant the truck itself is poorly made and they need to do some more re thinking......I have sold 8 aftershocks at the shop and all of them have been big problems if you dont fix the right things out of the box......Hope i could help if you need more information just send me a PM and i will get back with you alot.
Thanx John

ok i cleaned the cb and checked put back together and tried it did the same thing it is like the clutch will not engage till at a higher rpm then the truck is fine after it gets going is there better clutch shoes and springs i should install?or any adjustments i could try.....

Have you checked the slipper? It may be too loose. You may have to tighten the slipper nut a bit for it to engage faster.

I Will Try That I Did Not Want To Untill I Asked Is That Something That Should Be Adjusted In Small Incraments

Tighten it down then back it out about 1/4. See how you like that setting. You don't want it all the way down espeially if you ump a lot. You will eat up your spur gear if you do.
