i got some tires to replace two that i have gashes in on my savage.. i can't get them off the rims!! i dont wanna rip them !! i put them in the oven on 250 for 15 minutes and there just as stuck as they were in the first place.. one set i glued with super glue the other is factory hpi glued.. what am i doing wrong?? should i wait longer?? HELP!! the oven is on and its hot in tha kitchen!! lol help!!!

Put them in boiling water that will soften the tires and the glue and they should come right off with a litte help, Try to find something to use to grab the tires glove/ or towels so your not toasting your fingers lol

ok went 25 min and nothing turned the temp up to 300 and set for another 10 min we will see.. i dont have a pot that big jesse

lol you could do one at a time mabe? I had to do that to some Ofna monster pirate wheels and tires I used to have those things are freaking HUGE!

I preheat my oven to 450°, put the tires in and turn the oven off. leave the tires in the oven for 45 mins. Take them out and pull the rubber off of the rims. That's how I do it. Doesn't give off the nicest aroma, but it works.

well at 300 one started ripping so i give up.. ill try again later.. ill have to try vgibbens way next time.. theres half of 15 bux thrown away.. ahhhhhh!!!!! and i sizzled my hand a bit...

Get a large pot. Fill it half way with water (too full and the pot will boil over). Get a lid small enough to just fit inside the pot. Bring water to a good boil, throw tires in, use lid to hold tires under water, let sit for a MINIMUM of two hours. Remove one tire, attempt to separate it from the rim. If it doesn't come off easily, throw it back in and wait. Eventually, they will come off about as easily as pulling apart a rack of well cooked ribs (that makes me hungry). It has worked perfectly for me every time.

I wouldn't throw any plastic rim in an oven at 300* or higher man....you are asking for it to warp somewhere......boil em and brush acetone on em wherever they are still sticking to the rim.....they should pull right off...if th etires have gashes already why not just rip em off and soak the rim in acetone to clean it??

Set the oven to 400. Once it has preheated put the tires in wait 5 minutes then turn the oven off (leave the oven closed). Wait another 15 minutes then remove the tires. I have done this many times, the tires come right off and never tore a tire or warped a rim.

WARNING!!!!!! The tires will burn you fingers lol I use some tongs to remove the tires while there still warm.

Yep...For some unknown reason I didn't think the rubber would burn......WRONG :hammer:

When I had my 4 tec, I put them in the bathtub and had the water on as hot as it could go, and it was enough to soften the glue. It was kinda messy, but worked.

Or you can go to the LHS and buy "Un-cure".
It's glue undo'er..lol
