I want a new car.
I'd like it to have the style of a Pagoni Zonda but with the room and comfort of a stretch limousine.
I'd want close to 1000 HP, but it must get over 40 MPG.
I'd like it to reach speeds of 200 MPH but be totally invisible to radar.
I want to take it off roading in the summer and mountain climbing in the winter but I'd like it to have the ride of a Rolls Royce Phantom.
I'd like open headers for racing but it must be as silent as a small cloud on the distant horizon.
I'd like it to have the traction of an Abrams M1 tank with the handling of a drifter.
I'd like it to be satin black but I want it to look like super gloss red.

Choices, choices.

+1 on this. You have a pretty wishful list and imagine this comes closest to delivering before you get in to serious money. I seen a lot of guys new to nitro thinking they are willing to spend, but when the sh*t hits the fan for a wish-list like yours...it's not cheap. Just letting you know. But hey, I like your style...no point playing if you are serious: go big ;-) You just might want to check out other options first.

The best part of the Savage is its platform. You can make it into whatever you want.

Other than that would recommend a truggy such as Mugen, Xray, Serpent, or Kyosho. And to do it right you'll easily double the price of the kit on ancillery.parts alone. I think you'll get what your looking for out of the Savage. As you progress through the nitro hobby, you'll be able to better pin-point the real available choices. ;-)

-Hella fast and to where it's so loud, people get mad when I run it

How old are you? This is the dumbest requirement yet, have fun when your neighbors start calling the cops every time you run it. You also haven't given us a budget, how much are you willing to spend? If you want loud fast and durable; get the Savage, sell the stock engine and put in a modified one with an ERCM pipe.

Lol all nitros are loud and everyone hates them that isnt into this hobby... Trust me the last thing you want is to be hated by neighbors and harassed by a cop, I would know first hand with a police encounter.... I went WOT with my NTC3 to 'race' or zoom by him which I did, but spent nearly an hour being harrassed about it and tried all ue could to charge me with breaking the law so he could take it from me. He never did but really dont enjoy being harrassed by anyone, especially a cop...

With a good rig, the right mods, mill, gearing % nitro and tune you can achieve total mayhem speeds.nn

I think durable is going to be up to the driver! Both the Revo and Savage are durable trucks but if you drive them really hard, they will both break parts. I have a Revo that I have no issues with and bash pretty hard with a Picco Max powerplant and over 1K in mods and it is extremely durable. I think with any stock RTR kit, your going to break parts right off the bat between the two, but that's why you upgrade to better parts when you break them. My niegbor has a Savage 21 for sale with a XTM 457 in it, it does need a new motor but can save you hundreds if you go the Savage route. A new XTM 457 is $150, I could ask him what he wants for the truck, just let me know!

Lack of driving / tuning skills plus an overwhelming desire to go "really fast" usually equal disaster. Durability needs to be the deciding factor here first and foremost.

IMO, durability wise, Savage would be the best choice, followed by MGT. Being owner of several Traxxas products I can say with certainty, forget Traxxas of any kind,
they will not survive the wrath of inexperienced NOS.

Speaking of NOS, since you're most likely going to be blowing up engines anyhow,
maybe nitrous injection and /or brewing up quaarts of your own fuel will assist you in your goal of ultimate speed :first_place:

As others have mentioned, Here's your winner (or sacrificial lamb).

It just so happens that I do not have $1600 to spend on an RC car. Anyway, I think I'm going to go with the Savage 4.6X or Savage XL 5.6.

Which is better, the 4.6 or 5.6 and why?

The 4.6 is better. It makes better power and uses less fuel than the 5.9. It is better quality where the quality of the 5.9 is hit or miss (usually miss).

What's your budget? You could grab a XL and sell the 5.9 before starting it and put a LRP in it.

With the Lrp(175-200 usd) and a savage xl, you'd be around the 800 mark. If you don't use the 5.9 out of the savage you could sell it to get closer to the $700 mark, as suggested above. If you want loud check out a ERCM pipe :)

Savage XL and upgrade engine to the LRP 32 will be a good basher .
Keep in mined the XL stock engine the 5.9 is finicky and has a 3 needle carb and if you don't know how to tune should stay away from 3 needle engine onto you can tune a 2 needle engine .
The savage X with a 4.6 is a good basher as well and be easier to tune then the XL 5.9 , the Xl has a 3 speed tranny and will be faster then the X which has a 2 speed tranny , parts for these truck are cheap and all over the net plus there is a ton of up grade to help make them even more bullet proof

If you don't know how to tune yet find Ron Paris nitro tuning guide and read it top to bottom 3 time's:D

And welcome to your new addiction:)

xl

its all about the xl seal the engine when you get it noo problem ! or yea lrp ,32x is the hot set up . 4.6 x is great I had fun with it . the xl omg is awesome !! I'm still breaking mine in . :first_place:

How much better is the LRP vs the stock 5.9 in the XL? I was looking around and it seems almost as if the stock engine is better than the LRP .32. Can someone straighten some facts out for me? Which is best and why?

The quality of the engine. LRP is of a higher quality and is easier to tune than the 5.9. The LRP can also make better power than the stock engine which is why a lot of people here recommend it as an upgrade.

Is it easier to tune or have higher power, or both? If so, how much more powerful is the LRP than the stock? spex pls
