If you're still using the stock one that uses a D-cell battery, toss it in the tool box as an backup and get a rechargeable one for regular use. I've had a Hot Shot 2 for about 2.5 yrs and it's worked like a champ, it actually came in a box of parts with a used car I bought so I have no idea how old it is. I also just ordered a TLR ignitor as a second ignitor, it's still pretty new but I doubt I'll have any issues with it. The Hot Shot has a 1500 mAh battery and the TLR has a 3000mAh one, and they are both "twist lock" style.

I'm going try that TLR one. I just bought a new ignitor and did not realize it was only 500mAh. My goodness I could get maybe 15 seconds (total) of charge time on it. I prefer the squeeze-n-lock over twist-n-lock, but like to have lots of them as can never find them when I need them.

EDIT: I just read where that TLR one only fits standard plugs. Is that true?

The outer sleeve on mine seemed to "stretch" out after a while, this made it hard to get a good fit on the plugs and I had to fiddle with it.

Not sure, I only use standard plugs. I'll see if any of my buddies run turbos, I'll try it if anyone does.

Now the receiver won't turn on. I went to charge her receiver battery yesterday and she won't turn on anymore! :O

HELP!!!!!

Check to see if any of the wire came loose from the connector. It might look like it's fastened, but the wire could be pushed far enough back that it's not making a connection with the prongs of the receiver.

Alright, I checked the battery with the voltemeter and she's reading 5.75 volts. I tried plugging the battery directly into the receiver and she still won't turn on.

Any other suggestions?

Alexander has a good point. Sometimes you have to trim the ear off a little for it to properly fit. Additionally, you CAN plug them in the wrong way. That is why I asked if you where sure (turn it over and try it). Do your other batteries work in it? If not then you know it's your rx. Also assume you are not getting a light on your rx at all..correct?

There's power going to the receiver, I just tested it with the voltmeter. Should I just buy a new receiver?

I know nothing about voltmeters and rc vehicles. I can only advise you test it with the another battery pack that you KNOW works to rule out the rx, as they are expensive. I have over 15 of them and have had multiple problems, but have yet to see one flat out die. Of course that can happen--just letting you know my experience. If you think you've performed your due-diligence then get another one. However, there have been multiple times I was not getting power, and it turned out to be user-error.

The voltmeter basically just shows you how many volts there are. My battery is reading around 5 volts right now. I double checked that there's power going to the receiver, and the voltmeter confirms it.

I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or it's just broken. What sort of "user-errors" have you discovered?

Try unplugging you reciver switch, and plug you battery directly into you reciver. I've had several switches give out, on other savages, and I've just plugged the battery into the reciver......it might help?

I already tried that with no luck

Have you checked to make sure that it's plugged in right? Did you say that you charged it and it is only showing 5v? If that's the case, you battery plug may be bad and not making a good connection.
