i just bought a rush evo stadium truck 2nd hand, starts ok but there is no drive when throttle applied. Can anyone help me with this please?

Start at the clutchbell & work your way out to the axles.. See where the power is being lost. You could have worn clutch shoes that aren't engaging, a loose/worn slipper on your spur gear, a stripped or missing grub screw on your output yoke... etc Take a good look at your drivetrain...

It could be:

engine clutch
slipper clutch too loose
spur gear worn
slipper pad worn
tranny gears stripped
diff gears stripped
or a dogbone is missing

My bet is the slipper is too loose, try tightening it up first.

And, when you give it gas, does the clutch bell spin? does the spur gear spin?

Are you running the same % nitro fuel that they other guy ran. It may be too rich now. You can also try leaning out the HSN. (high speed needle)

i think you may be right on the slipper cluthch idea, the clutch bell spins as does the spur gear. I have tightened it some and now have some drive but not 40mph, was just a little worried about overtightening. As far as i know I am using 16%fuel as did the previos owner.

Well you're not gonna hit 40 period. Let alone w/ 16% nitro. Magazines have radared the rush evo at just a little above 30. So, you should be hitting around 30, but if you're not, your slipper pad might be worn. Take off the spur, and if the pad on the back of the spur has a lot of black stuff, and is kinda glossy and looks worn, it's worn and you need a new one. Hpi sells the pads in like packs of 4 or something. h/o, I'll look for a link.

EDIT: Here ya go: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXVJ88&P=7

yeah had quick look earlier and pad looks black and worn, off to the local stockists for me. how long do they normally last out of interest? and tyvm for you help cvec7

Well, they normally last forever if your slipper isn't too loose or you're not driving it on big dirt-clods or putting a lot of strain on the drive train by doing stuff you know it can't handle. Your slipper was probably too loose, so it slipped excessively, causing it to wear out a lot faster.

Be sure to peel the adhesive from the pad before you install it.
It got me once.

my rush was doing the same thing it turned out to be the nut that goes in the rim, the plastic one was striped.

Off to the local model shop, some slipper clutch pads and seeking some advice from friendly beard wearing individuals with unobtrusive antenna's.

Thanx for all your help guys, much appreciated. Have new slipper clutch pads will give them a whirl 2morrow. Adios Amigos and remember.....never buy a mentally retarded dwarf, it's not big and it's not clever.
