Ok, I have an NTC3 with "the fix" on the front and rear diff housing. I am switching to a different chassis and have run into a problem. The screws from "the fix" have stripped and I can't use them anymore. It is the two black flat head screws circled in the pic. They go through the diff housing and lock into the aluminum cap nuts (shown bleow).

So I need to get these screws replaced. I looked on tower hobbies, my LHS, and the internet & couldn't find anything. The screw size is 4-40 x 1-1/4 inch flat head machine screw. I don't want to spend another $20 and buy "the fix" again, when all I need are some $2 screws.

I went to Lowe's yesterday and found some 4-40x1-1/4" Pan head screws that would work. However, the head will scrape on the ground due to the round head shape. So it will work, but not very effectively. I will use it as my last resort if I can't find the proper screw.

All you machinist out there, do you know where to find a 4-40x1-1/4" Flat head screw?

Thanks.

Did you try an auto parts store? Not Auto Zone or one of those but a good auto parts store that carries miscellaneous hardware in bulk. You may also try and search the internet for something from an aircraft parts supplier although most I can think of you would end up buying a bag of screws (50 or more). Good luck

Dude I have them for you. They are 4-40 X 1 1/4 Zinc Plated Machine screw. Pan head phillips. Let me k now how many you need. I will send em to you Monday.

Look at Mcmaster-Carr. They are here locally . Let me know

I just picked up some of the those that you mentioned. However, w/ the pan head, it sticks out below the chassis. Did you just grind the head smooth (dremel) after you put it on?

Hmm I don't use those on my rc's just at work. Mcmaster does carry those type heads. i will see if I have something else comparable.
