Hey guys, just bought my first nitro:banana: , used of course, problem is, I couldn't get it to start no matter how hard I tried, and one problem was trying to get fuel to the Carb, It just would not go up the fuel line without me squeezing the line a few times to get it there. When I pulled it the first few times after that I could feel some fuel coming out of the exhaust onto my fingers I was plugging it with. Then disaster struch, the spring got caught around the pull-cord. I opened up the pull start and out comes the spring, and of course hits me right in the face. when trying to put the spring back in, I noticed the inside end of it had come off, so its now useless.
so, heres me at the moment:ponder2: , I'll wondering if I can find another pull-start, so check ebay, all .28 size and so on, but now I'm wondering if there is an alternative to pull-starts. Can I replace the pull-start with a drill start thing like HPI cars use, and where can I get the equipment here in Northern Ireland, or if someoe has either a .15/.16 spare pull-start unit, or drill start stuff, so any advice would be nice on both these matters, cheers guys

can you give us a bit more info on the mill? like size and brand. you could use another pull start, a rotostart (hpi style) or a tiger drive that uses a drill

no idea

umm, I guess being a complete and utter Nitro beginner isn't going to help me here. The engine is a Thunder Tiger .16 "PRO" engine, which I think is the one which came with the RTR kit, thats about all I know, sorry

Or at least tell us what vehicle it is so we can try to look for it ourselves?

I've fixed a recoil spring before. If you heat the end up with a little torch/lighter until it's red hot, then let it cool, you can bend the little hook or whatever back into it. But you have to heat the end and let it cool first. If you don't, it will just snap off when you try to bend it.

I did this with a pull starter in an orion engine about 2 years ago. It broke during break-in. After fixing it, I ran about 5 gallons of fuel through that engine using the "fixed" starter spring. So it can be a very permanent fix.

Thunder Tiger TS4N

Sorry I forgot to mention the car lol, its a Thunder Tiger TS4N, which I beleive was the RTR model because it has the plastic upper deck, not the metal one as in the Pro version, and it came with all the RTR style Thunder Tiger electrics and the Subaru Impreza 1999/Porsche 911 shell which I beleive they did, don't know which was the original and which was bought separatly, but I don't think that matters, I may just replace the pullstart, but i was wondering about any other options which may be or are definatly better than the pull-start,
cheers guys

Does the engine look anything like this one?
