I noticed the other day that I'm getting well known around RCNT either from my signatures, random comments, or the actual good I do. I have along way to go before I'm known like most the mods and some of the others are but nevertheless, I get a lot of IMs and emails about help with their RC cars, mostly Storms. They tell me how a lot of people never talk to them or ignore them when they I'm people off of RCNT. I know some of these newbies might wanna ask you questions about things you've answered 100000 times but answer it one more time for them. I remember when I first started out and couldn't find any help, it sucked a lot. So, if anyone ever asks you for help outside the forum, help them out. Stuff like that makes all the difference.

WasteLand,
Great Idea but if you think about it, it will hurt the forum in the long run.

Posting questions and getting them answered is how the site gains content for others ot find using the search function.

The best way to be a productive member is to answer questions that people ask here on the forum.

I understand what your talkign about Eddy, but think back, ur 12 to 15, dont know much about forums, dont know what a forum search is, lol, and ur just finding help. Point I'm trying to get across, help out fellow RCers on or off the site, online or in person, but yes I urge all newbies to post and ask question onthe site as it will only help it out.

Posting questions that hae been covered before isn't that big of a deal. I got called out a time or two about the search function, and it wasn't really that bad. Most of the time, if a subject has been covered in detail, members will post resopnses if there's no active thread open at the time, or will post links to the old archived threads. What is bad, is when you see two or three active threads going at the same time with the same question.

There's no rule here stating that every post must be unique, just not duplicate posts at the same time. Ask away, we're here to help with what we know.

I don't think that its our job to answer 12 year olds questions on I'm. That is what this forum is for. This forum is really good about answering the same questions over and over. Even when we tell people to use the search, we often do it for them and post the results. I belong to a rc10gt forum that guys will not answer anything that has been previously asked. You get reprimanded for asking a question that has already been answered. It starts to be just a FAQ and not an online community. There are very few posts where people are asking questions that don't get answered here. I personally don't see a problem. I will always try to help people if I can, live or online. I think most other people here will too.
