When you get to the point of looking for hop-ups, I'd check out RPM Products first! Their products are top notch and no one can beat their warranty.... you break their part they send you a new one!

Good luck breaking them though.

You used a TOTALLY wrong approach. Now pay attention and remember this. If you had started out asking about a Savage for $450 and let her balk about it, she would then give you her blessings if you "settled" for the $200 car.

Yeah... I had one of those. I didn't realize it, but I had $500 in it.

Then my wifes real car had issues... bye bye RC fund.

Glad to see your among the many guys who are really children in heart and mind! Just don't let her see how much that new lipo/brushless system your eyeballing costs!

After a week or so of driving it, see if she wants to take it for a spin. Not sure about the slash but I bet it has the ESC box that you can cut the power in half for her. You'd be surprised at how many of the ladies enjoy driving them and who knows, if she gets hooked you may be able to move up and let her have the slash.

Yup, the slash has the cutoff also. I think all Traxxas rigs come that way now. Great way for a "newbie" to get started and then work their way up. That's one of the reasons why my lady liked the Slash, she can't handle all the power just yet.

Honestly, the slash is one of traxxas most affordable rigs that they've released in a long time. I think the slash is a $300 truck that they're selling for under $200. I've never seen a traxxas hold up like these will. I've had 3 rustlers and a stampede. After seeing a bunch of slash's in a demo derby, I can promise you that you will not be spending nearly as much in parts and repairs on the slash as you would the stamede and rustler. They're all decent trucks, but you'll have A LOT more fun with the slash, and the Stampede is a better basher than the Rustler with it's higher ground clearance and monster truck tires

Wow, you've never seen a demo derby?

Well in full size derbies, guys take the glass out of old buicks, caprice, wagon, mercury, etc, basically the big boats that were made when a car was a car. They build safety cages and reinforce the weak spots, and then they drive around ramming into each other really hard to disable the other cars. There's a lot of strategy, because if you hit someone but disable your car, you've knocked yourself out. It's a last man standing kind of a deal. Some demo derbies are done in a figure eight race format, where you have to cross paths halfway through the track. Some demo derbies are only for full size school busses and motor homes or travel trailers, you get the point. So, the slash demo derby was the same way, everyone ramming into each other at full speed, trying to take one another out. I have some great video, I'll get it posted in the electric section.

I have heard of Demolition Derbys, but have never seen one. Would love to watch one. Has to be fun as hell. I know I will not find anything like that here in Topeka, but hey, it would still be fun to just see footage of this. Thanks CharliesTheMan!!
